I think we have to stop valuing Myers on his potential and start valuing him on his history. This offer is the best I have heard for him and that should tell you how he is seen league wide. Not to mention, the closer zadorov, risto, and mccabe get to playing full time in the NHL the less valuable myers becomes to the sabres as well. With that said it's still important to try and find the best possible time to trade Myers. Which as it looks is what murray is doing.
- Boxer14

His history is that he can play at a very high level, just needs consistency.

There was also a report that the Canucks had an offer of pick 24 and another piece and Murray refused

Myers is an asset. You don't trade away an asset unless your price is met. That "offer" if garbage. An often injured Weiss a 2nd rounder pick in the 50's (or late 40's) and a 3rd liner?? Please

No , Big men take longer to develop . Hardly trading him now . His value will only go up . Murray likes him . Wants to put better talent around him . Did you watch him play after Nolan took over as coach ?
- Maximum Signal

Yea I watched him, and I saw him still play inconsistently. He was much better, but I still don't see him having the same type of year that scored him a calder. Not to mention Murray has been shopping him since he got the job, Myers isn't in the long term blue prints

Sabres are 20.5 million beneath the cap floor
- CaptainRivet

I thought the floor was 51 million? Right now were at 38.5 that would mean were 13 million off no?

Agreed. I would think if Murray were to pull the Myers trigger there would be some players further along in their development, as he has stated he likes those prospects.

I'm not for trading Myers (so don't lambaste me, Max and Broads), but Mantha at least keeps that conversation going

I think your over estimating the growth of the NHL. 10 mil will still be huge
- Boxer14

No. It wouldnt have been 10 million in one year. At most it would have been 10 million over four years, and that is if he would have retired at 34. It most likely would have been 3 million in each of his final two seasons.

Tyler Myers is a solid 2nd pairing defenseman probably for his entire career with the ability (if he improves consistency even more than this past year) to play a 1-2 spot. Therefore he's a 1-4 defenseman. He's 24. If you think you're going to hustle a guy like that who is now learning how to be physical, as well as the ability to have a great 2 way game for a couple over the hill chumps and a 2nd (the supposed Detroit offer) or what's actually going to amount to maybe a more talented Cody Hodgson... yeah I think Myers can stay.

Haters gonna hate when haters can't open their minds to long term.

Myers should be and will be the cornerstone of this defense for years to come. When he is on his game he is top 5 in the league. Thats only when he's not trying to do everything on defense...he just needs support...still hasn't had it relaly since his first goaround with hank

Gonna be tough. He must be looking at a trade to take on salary?

Brooks Orpik (3 yrs/$4 mill per) & Matt Moulson (3 yrs/$6 mill per), then give Ennis a raise?

Now look lower and see the recapture if he was traded. That's where the $10 million comes from
