47 is already taken

A little poetic license please.

The current #47 may be traded before training camp if all the speculation here today comes to pass

I agree, the question is what does Hexy think of Ehrhoff ?

Moving LeCavalier and taking back no salary or a player that is one year and can be bought ought gives the wiggle room and time to trade one of the most expensive middle of the road defensive line ups in hockey

If the flyers got their hands on Ehrhoff I would rather trade MacDonald than Grossmann. Although his injury concerns still bother me. That dude can not catch a break.

Ehrhoff, IMO.
- Jsaquella

Interesting, I do think Ehrhoff gets at least 5 years on a new deal. I'm just not as sold that Hexy is interested in signing 30+ players to multi-year contracts that Homer would. I think the Ekblad pursuit gives us a glimpse into his thinking of building the team.

No idea. He seems to fit Hexy's ideas-good skater, plays all situations, two way guy, but who knows for sure?

It's not that they need Ehrhoff, it's that they left themselves limited options. He'll if Ehrhoff signs for $6mm or more, I'd probably be happy they didn't have the room to fit him

It's possible. But Ehrhoff is 31. He'd be 36 at end of a 5 year deal. Not decrepit

Did you buy a Sanheim jersey yet? I'm tired of joking about Laughton getting traded

Not decrepit, but possibly in two to three years diminishing return. I would think the GMs in the larger markets are a little concerned about the projections of cap growth over the next couple of years may have been too aggressive. In two years, younger players like Voracek, Coots, Coburn, B. Schenn, and Raffl will probably need pay raises.

Its a lot to weigh especially if Ehrhoff is brought in and still having AMac and Streit on the roster also.

What can I say I'm Bogosian biased, I still if he can be elite and ultimately a bargain.
