With the great defence and goaltending Nashville has and now with a legitimate scorer in James Neal, how could you turn down a deal to Nashville?! What does Spezza want? A Stanley Cup delivered on a silver platter!

I know what your saying. But he has already asked for a trade out of Ottawa. If there isnt a trade within the teams he's willing to go to. Then you have to ask him if he will reconsider. Murray has to ask. Otherwise he isnt trying at all. I just dont see a contending team willing to offer what Murray is going to want to land Spezza. It could happen sure. But its apparent that the only offers are from teams that arent contenders right now.

I don't necessarily disagree with this. I just find it a huge waste of time to work out a deal then ask Spezza if he will reconsider. Murray should ask before negotiating if he'd be willing to change his mind for a club or two.

We won't be getting a great return for Spezza. I hope I'm wrong, but when a player demands a trade out of a city, the quality of the package coming back goes down drastically.

Spezza better be eating lots and lots of pizza this summer hoping that he will score a lot by osmosis next year. It's the only way he's leaving Ottawa on his timetable now.

It's one year of being somewhere you don't want to be, and you may find you like it more there than you realize.

How did someone with this kind of mentality ever get considered for an NHL captaincy? If you think the last ten years have been bad in terms of criticism, this season is gonna be a poop show. Hope he's ready for it.

$7 million is not an easy hit to take for most cup contending teams

I'm sure if a cap strapped team inticed Murray enough to retain salary & cap hit they would..

This is the exact same scenario as when Heatley left, but I doubt Spezza gets 1/10th the hate that Heatley got.

I could see why Spezza doesn't want to go to a team he listed not to it is a principal thing. Nashville how eve is trying to build a winner and had like Ott a poor season last year due to injuries to Rinne etc.

At that same point though Murray needs to start doing something to improve the team or we will be competing for the lower places in the standings i the race for Mcdavid since everyone else is trying to improve their said teams.

There was a few others I wouldn't have minded at our pick like Mckeown, Pollock, or MacInnis, but that kid will be a stud Def d in a few years if he can continue getting better.

No we just don't want your plugs like berglund or cole. Wouldn't take those guys for free
- Paul99

Berglund is a good player, I'll be happy to have him back. Cole will be a regular this year too. His big fallback is taking too many penalties.

Just Murray being Murray - he thought he is a Heatley trade, a Comrie trade, he'll he even said in Januray he thought he made a trade for a forward but in fact it didn't happen....

has anybody in the Ottawa organization explained to him the concept of the no-trade list? It's almost like he gets the list from the agent and thinks it's THE TRADE LIST? He's been around since before no-trades and perhaps he's jut never had a full explanation from someone on how they work and what their purpose is?

Murray CALL ME! I got something to to explain to you!

And Posters... Don't fall for this tactic - management is tryin to make Spezza out to be the bad guy by refusing a trade the organization wanted - put the blame where it belongs in Murray's old man underwear.

He did this with Heatley, Redden an now Spezza... Old tactics from and old manager [/img]

I said this a week ago, and was told I was wrong by numerous Ottawa fans. I was also told by "TheCalSen" that he isn't demanding a trade. It's nice to know some of you see the situation for what it actually is. Murray is in a tough spot.

Whoa! Slow down everyone this is progress. Spezza has to file a new 10 team no trade list by Tuesday. Insiders will know soon enough what Murray was offered by Nashville and the other team. Everyone will have a bench mark on what works with Murray.

He made out better than okay with Heatley. He is going to be fine here. Either somebody will match the Preds offer or Spezza will refigure the list on Tuesday to include Nashville.

Only thing, you cannot let it drag on too long. Murray can't be greedy. But, there is room for patience over the next couple of weeks.

The Heatley trade big time hurt the team and dragged everyone involved right down the gutter - don't think other GM's are lurking knowing Murray doesn't want this to drag out all summer like it did for #15 - if anything Murray is working it I the summer knowing he can't have another Heatley fiasco on his hands

How does that work, why wouldn't he be able to just remake the same list? What stops him from putting Nashville on the new list?
