Right handed shot, shut down guy, cheaper, almost , if not, better than Gunnar, and you people STILL complain? Lol wow...
- 9LeafsFan1

Whatya mean 'you people'?!

And who's complaining ….I'm in 'Gunnar is gone' parade right now …moving along College near Bathurst.

Ooops wrong parade.

Who the hell is complaining besides you?

None of us know much about him, so don't expect excitement from us over this.

- systemtool

Ya not really an expert on shutdown guys on the bottom-pairing.

Not bad. Think he can play top line mins?
- Yeti1181

He was 5th in D on average time for St Louis, so probably not.

me likey

also we NEED a right hand shot badly. we could still use another one after this

- Zezel

Blues were looking for a "top 4" lefty to play with Shattenkirk …Leafs were looking for a "top 4" righty to play with Phaneuf. Both settled for these "top 4's".

Righties are tough to find so no complaints here.

I'm sure Petro, bouwemeester, and Shattenkirk were the reason why he didn't play large minutes

Gunnarsson is better than Polak imo. I don't like this move. I think Gunnar got a bad rap in Toronto. I think if anyone was adding a 4th, it should have been STL.

Not to say that Polak is bad, or that the whole thing is a make or break trade. I just can see the need for such a deal.

This team really needs to shake up its core. No idea who they should get or what to give up...but it needs foundation change.

Sweet more depth defensemen, if it makes the d core better I'm all for it.

Every second Gleason is still on the roster should terrify leafs fans. Any of your several solid d prospects would be cheaper and better next year.

Brendan Gleason is a better NHL defender at this point than Tim Gleason

This team will never rebuild, never. They've proven it for the last 30 years. They will try to tweak forever and it will constantly fail.

I hope im wrong, but doubt it.....

needed a RD, Gunnar's the only LD Leafs would give in a trade like this.

Plus more physical. I don't mind it, but agree Leafs shouldn't have included a 4th. Only assume that's due to cap hit difference.

So an immobile Leaf defence just got a little more immobile. Polak is a tough guy who plays hard. But he's slow.

I used to not mind Gunnar... But I'm pretty happy about the change. I think he'll help the D, but I'm not expecting much. Hopefully he picked a few things up from Petro and passes it on to Rielly
