They will be moved, and like so many others flourish under another club...

Rask and Steen are the only current ones I can think of ... are there others?

Yup, but the ones they need to move they can't, so someone who is actually good will have to moved. bottom 6 will likely be all Marlies save Clarkson... Step back...
- aminnes

don't know if having kids who can actually play in the bottom-6, instead of the two facepunchers is a step back.

If they are moved
What can you realistically expect back?

I think Reimer has been shopped but no one bit on him - I can see him back next year

- MTL1

They ruined Reimer so his value right now is low, meaning they will likely gov e him away or have to qualify him, meaning less room on the cap. Same goes for Franny, somehow his play regressed without Fraser, so his value is moot... They will likely have to walk away and make him a FA for nothing... Maybe a 3rd rounder?...

They will make more moves
They have to
20M to sign 11 guys
Some big contracts will need to move

- MTL1

Once Chicago is done signing Toews and Kane next year, they'll have around $5 million to sign that many.

Every contract claimed to be "unmovable" has been moved before. Gomez was moved.
Toskala and Jason Blake moved. Brian Campbell's 7 million dollars was movable at a time when 7 million was a ridiculous contract. Lou was moved.

All about keeping expectations of the return down.

The face punchers haven't played much especially last year. I do remember the last time the Leafs made the playoffs they had two enforcers who played most nights and I remember Orr keeping Boston well away from Phil a couple years back...

Oh they can be moved, just basically for nothing... As far as Lou and Campbell, the Cats had to get to the floor so...

they were on roster, but they only played 3 minutes a night

They were useless last year. Nobody was willing to fight them, so the intimidation factor was gone.

Having a 4th line that can play 10+ minutes a night, as opposed to those two wastes of skates would be a big improvement.

Maybe not, I don't know enough about the development of your average hockey player to have a definite opinion. I just believe that if you're playing against men in a professional league, and holding your own by all accounts, playing against kids could cause a shift in this kid's progress.
- BetterCallSaul

Against men but still in Sweden on the bigger ice which means more time and space and less physical contact. The sooner he plays on the smaller ice, where he can adjust to having less time and space and more physicality, the better.

yup.

And then they forgot how to play hockey.

Don't care why, just want a better 4th line now.

What was the habs and anaheims reasons for taking those contracts? Who cares why the other team takes them as long as they do.

Also, who cares if it's basically for nothing. Your argument, if i understand it correctly, is that the contracts are holding back the team from progressing so wouldn't removing them be good enough? Or are you a fan who wants a fair value trade while ridding yourself of a bad contract?

remember how people wanted Burke gone?

I don't mind Nonis, but Burke was definitely a better GM.

You don't make much sense here.... On one hand your saying that upgrading the 4th line is the difference maker while saying the 3 mins the 4th line plays in worthless... I don't get it...

I agree, which is why I hope he plays in the AHL. But that would burn a year off of his ELC, so maybe they send him back to Sweden as a free year of development.

Carrick and D'Amigo would be a good start for the 4th line.

Also, they are barely in the minus column, so it wasn't like they just ran around and got scored on...

They're asking for 12 each, so they'll probably get 10. That would bring Chicago up to $64 million for 14 players.
