He can play on the Marlies or the ECHL affiliate at 18 because he's coming from Europe, the USHL also works that way. Only the CHL stops players from leaving until they are 20 or have fulfilled the 4 year agreement.

I would think going from a men's league in Sweden to playing in a U20 league in the CHL might be a little detrimental to his progress. What's he going to learn if he's lighting up a league of 16/17 year olds?
- BetterCallSaul

He gets to try things out. It means he doesn't have to worry about a mistake really costing him or his team. So less pressure. He can work on his weaknesses much easier.

Holland in Detroit generally seems to like to keep guys in their leagues to complete their training there before bringing them to the ahl.

I say keep him in Europe for one more year, no reason to rush him.

Leafs have contacted 7 free agents that are not theirs. Thoughts on who?
I would think
Brodeur
D.Boyle
Vrbata
Stastny
B.Boyle
Gilbert
Morris

Iginla or vanek are also possibilities.

He's a free agent right? So everyone involved can suggest which league will be best for him.

Even though I'm of the opinion it would be a step backwards, is there a CHL team that owns his rights?

Playing North American hockey under an experienced coach (Dale Hunter) wouldn't be detrimental to his progress.

Yes on Boyle as long as it isn't past 4 years
Yes on Stastny, yum
Vrbata sure why not if he isn't making over 3.5
Yes on Boyle but not at the rumoured 4mil he wants.

But I think Boyle is a no go. I think that would have been a fill in if they traded #3.

I don't see the Leafs having much cap space... Maybe one guy if their lucky, of which they will find a way to overpay... Oh, personally none of these guys makes any sense, save Stastny, but they won't have enough space unless they move out either one of the albatrosses or someone of value...

I think it's very possible we get boyle. Polak will probobly play with one of the kids then either gardiner or Rielly will play with #3. I would prefer to have boyle playing with him.
