And replace them with?....

Peter Holland for one. Young, cheap, nice upside.

Why are we wasting millions in cap space on bottom 6 guys?

dont know, does it really matter where a player is from
- Jurco_28

Yes it does... If you look back at the olympic interviews before the 2002 and 2006 games, Alfy, Jagr and other top europeans stated flat out that in europe the national team is the ultimate goal, and that winning the cup is not a desire they have. That can change as they get older but I would rather a guy that has that desire embedded in him rather than learning to want it later...

I don't buy that. He's young and cheap and has had two very solid NHL seasons already.
- RogerRoeper

Nonis must be asking the noon then for him.

He should've been moved or should be moved before the start of the upcoming season. It's not healthy for the team.
Cujo and Potvin all over again.

I was hoping for some earthquakes in leaf land. I was positive that after that horrendous season that's all there was left to do.

A lot of smoke before the draft. And then nothing.

We are even going to keep our goalie that obviously wants out.

"you dont make moves for the sake of change"

Well when you saying you're going to change the culture. YOU CHANGE THE CULTURE!... not immediately by who you bring in, but by who you immediately ship out.

And still have a 6 million dollar 4th liner... Can't win cups with overpaid guys like that, it just cannot happen... I would rather have Kulemin than Clarkson, but due to mismanagement we will have a 6 million dollar Clarkson than a 3 million dollar Kulemin...

You can't move Clarkson, so there's no sense in going on about it. Signing Bolland however, that can be stopped. There is no sense in signing that guy for years. It's stupid.

And kulemin himself will get overpaid. Move on from him. Play the young, cheap guys.

This.

They better not give Bolland a long term deal at more than 3 million.

I'm not saying he won't be good... I'm a canadian cheering for a canadain team. And yes, the only exemption in the history of the league is a few years in detroit where they had guys that learned from Yzerman and other great canandians what it means to win. But to my point, even those guys didn't get good until they were older...

I'm not so sure we'll be worse with a Holland than the mistake of signing Bolland.

its quite deflating. When 2 collapses in 2 years STILL doesn't change this team.

Will Bolland be that player again? How much will he play? He barely played last season.

And how good can Holland be? We have no idea.

It's because he has to. It's the same as last trade deadline when they couldn't make a move... It wasn't because they're were none, it was because they had mismanaged the cap and had no space, while teams trading were looking to un-load on their caps... Now, after the club ruined the confidence of a once playoff starter, all because of one horrible game by mostly the inept d (that was rewarded - the complete opposite of what reimer got), they have killed his trade value, so now No-ness has to say they want to keep him, he isn't worth trading now... This club is run by total buffoons...
- aminnes

Agreed on cap mismanagement. The most useful thing shanny can do is bring in someone like benning to replace nonis and clean up the salary cap mess.
