I see some teams showed respect and some teams just straight up dissed us. Props to bergevin for wishing hexy luck with his new position he showed some class there unlike other GMs.

What teams "dissed" us and how? I wish they'd just all go up and make the pick unless they're taking the time to honor someone (Odjick for example).

Glad i didnt take off work to go to that snoozefest.

Well according to the one and only EK... The Flyers will be making a major trade with a " Canadian Western Conference " team today. So take that for what it is worth.
I think there will be more trades today.
You would think EK could nail at least one rumour every 6 months

You know, even if they have to send Vinnie and pick #48 to FLA for Upshall and their 4th rounder, I'd do it happily if that gets Vinnie fully off the books.

edit: they could then buyout Upshall and only carry a 2 year cap hit of 1.166 million, which would free up 3.334 million on this years cap.

- BiggE

No! Count me as someone that feels a 2nd is well over the amount I would pay to get rid of Vinny. He can still play, keep him and trade h next year or let him play 2nd line C and move Scheen to LW with G. No!

As long as FLA is taking the whole VL contract/cap hit, I'm fine with that as Upshall has only 1 year remaining at a 3.5 cap hit.

I can't see why Florida would do that deal unless they really like Vinny.

If It goes down like that, I'll make time to come pack Vinny's house

But somehow, I have a feeling it won't be that simple

- AllInForFlyers

What is simple about giving up a 2nd rounder to rid yourself of a contract? Vinny could just as easily have a bounce back year. Terrible asset management IMHO.

And on the flip side of why Florida would do the deal if there's someone at 48 they like, if the Flyers have someone at 48 they like, maybe they don't do the deal. We'll see soon enough I guess

If I'm Florida I do that trade in a second. They need to reach an ever expanding floor, Upshall is a hobbling ER patient, and a second rounder is cream on the top.

After a 3-4 year ban, I have returned.

Boring draft last night to say the least. They normally are though, so really we get too fired up for something big by buying into rumors and are left disappointed when they never happen.

When I left, me and MJL were arguing over Randy Jones. I said resigning him was stupid because he's not an NHL dman. He said he obviously is an NHL dman and a decent 3rd pairing dman.

I'll let history speak for itself.

Well if they're actively trying to move him a year later, it also has to be labeled as a terrible signing, especially if Lava was on such thin ice he was able to be canned after 3 games. This whole situation was poorly done by the Flyers IMO, though done before Hextall was around. He may just want to be rid of it all

I think they may have used Lava just to get Vinny and had a great excuse to fire him early in the season and went with it.

That makes this all that much worse if it were true.

True! I've learned a great deal of patience over the years reading these boards while banned. Can't tell you how many times I've mentally assualted other's over the things they've said!

I actually kept a couple pages of notes on old arguments with others and how they turned out over time. I wish I could find it, if for no other reason to bring some excitement to this boring draft weekend!

But thank you!

going back and watching it again, the cheers Brind'amour got last night was something special, and you could tell he was even struck by it.

I love the first round drafting philosophy the last 2 years. Not who is the best player now but who could. be the best player years from now. Landed them back to back fastest risers.

Cant fathom what Pitt was thinking yesterday but I think Rutherford has lost his mind. Stings they got Kapanen but they made themselves significantly worse with the Neal deal.

It really sounds like Hextall and Berube don't really want him (or more accurately, don't see how he fits with the team or what they want it to become). Just a bizarre situation the Flyers got themselves into

I didn't realize it was him until afterwards though. I'm such a (frank)in idiot.

It's comical really. Vinny was a shiney new toy and they had to have him. Now they have trip wires through out his house hoping he gets a career ending injury.

They knew he wasn't a fast skater and were shocked that he didn't turn into a defensive center with blazing speed.
