Sounds like Stan was/is aggressively working multiple deals with various combinations of contracts but some of these salary-shedding moves should have been made before today, especially if they had ANY visibility to a lower cap number.

if you honestly think that Bickell's lack of production was due to his knee sprain and not his lack of effort and compete level then i guess lets just agree to disagree there. a sprained knee is no excuse for a 15 point 4 million dollar man that was given ample opportunity in the top six....and i am not one of those who wants to give Sharp a free pass...he stopped competing once he made team canada and he moped around the rest of the season/playoffs bc he was in a "slump"

I still find it VERY hard to believe that a multi-billion dollar leauge/business and its GM's didnt have a really good idea that the cap would be where its at. Did Stan really go and sign Raanta and Smith this morning or whatever time it was before he knew what the number was going to be without having a plan?

Would he really knowingly sign guys and go over the cap by doing so without having a plan in place for this scenario? I just dont think so, i think it'll be alright.

Bickell has the knee sprain (with some ligament tear) from last year that required him to wear a brace all year, the injury to his other knee from this year when he slid into the goal post that forced him to wear another brace for part of the year, and in addition had wrist surgery over the summer.

These will have impacts on production and skating. They just will.
