Long term not really.....but a few are going to have to leave the island.....

I think we're in for a night of salary dump central....for a few teams.

And no 10th pick for the Nucks.

Kesler gets you a 24 year old d man regressing for 2 years, a 26 year old who has been a "promising prospect" for 4 years, and picks in a crap draft...

- tredbrta

How does that have anything to do with Chicago, and their lack of a 2C ?

Can't blame Uncle Dale this time.........

Well this just took the wind out of the "wait and see" sails. Baring multiple deals to free up HUGE money the 2c dream is over. Now it's just a matter of signing what you hope to be CHEAP EFFECTIVE depth guys and praying you core can continue to make up for the holes this team continues to has.

So yeah....cap hell and odds are they will be worse on paper then the team that finished against LA.

Stanley Bowman, everyone.......

- SteveRain

Good news is...we are not the only team that will have to dump salary. LA will be a shell of itself when all is said and done.

Torts and Gillis being gone is a bad thing? ( you do realize their salaries do not effect the cap right?)

Sure the return on Kes wasn't good, but it wasn't bad!

Sure as hell beats Kruger

A little more than two hours from now:

The Chicago Blackhawks have traded Sharp, McNeil and Morin for Florida's number 1 pick. Rheinhart will be our new 2nd line center. End of the story!

Did the God of Parity mandate Handzuis play 2C all last year? IF not, we can not blame him for that.

>While he stood tall in Rounds 1 & 2, WCF was average
>Much of the Ducks cap space comes from no $ spent on this year's goalers
>Think most of the #1 goalies in the NHL are overpaid and also most are just shot blockers
>It will be interesting to see what R Miller gets on the open market as so many high-paid goalies flamed out this year: Rask, Price, Fleury, etc
>Wondering if the $ allocated for this position begin to trend down considerably

Like with most contracts, they don't look good in the beginning but end up being good/bargains after a couple of years. By the time the next wave of goalie contracts are signed, CC should be middle of the pack in terms of cap hit. Which is good because he's a (so far) career average goalie with the potential to overachieve.

Not sure where you are seeing that...LA is under by 5+ million and only needs 1-2 guys.

Next year, maybe. Not this year.

The 6 Canadian teams bring in more combined revenue than the 24 American based teams , the cap would go down to around 20 million

@TheHockeyChat: The Chicago Blackhawks are actively trying to move out roster. Sharp and Hossa are two names that are being discussed #NHL

How legit is this guy?
