The Hawks appear "in" on every illogical, overpriced player. For this team, with this cap, going after 6 and 7 million dollar centers (Stastny, Spezza) IS NOT workable, not logical, not even worth thinking about. But rumors abound.

It's almost like a PR spin...."we tried to get our center, but just didn't work out...we like our team".

There is no way the hawks are getting the #1 pick without including a minimum of saad. Sharp plus garbage is not even close to the #1 let alone including gudbranson.

Salivate at the idea of adding JVR.

Isn't the general consensus w/ Ribiero that he's a jerk and not a great teammate?

I know his wife hated it for the one season he was here in Washington and wouldn't stick around. I recall it caused a lot of drama for the Capitals in general.

Definitely crazy to see it addressed like that in public though.

I can't get a read on what is going on with the Hawks. Simply put we can NOT add high priced players...even if we move our Sharp, a new addition, even at L2-C, has to be cost effective for the impending contracts under the stressed cap.

It would make total sense if the Hawks were rumored to be in talks with the Islanders about Frans Neilsen, because he's really the ONLY type of player the Hawks should legitimately go for...a proven, talented player who is affordable. Is he Gretzky Jr? no, but as mentioned we can't afford that kind of player, but Neilsen is a hell of a consolation prize considering the amount of money the Hawks are paying out to current players.

I guess it's all about the BIG PR play...we got Ryan Kesler is so much sexier than we got Frans Neilsen, though Neilsen may be the better choice for our club.

Good to see he is happy to be a hawk versus making a lot more money. Didn't Hammer say something like that last year when he signed his new deal

He is about the only guy with any size and other than Seabrook no one hits more than he does on this team. We need MORE size, not less of it.

Actually, Shaw has the most number of hits on the team behind Seabrook, not Bickell. Seabrook had 170, Shaw had 168, Bickell had 105 (though to be fair, he played less games). I'm not arguing to trade Bickell, just that hits aren't always done by the biggest guy. In the future, McNeill might be the solution to losing Bickell: good size, good hands, decent skater and can play wing and center so more versatility. By most accounts, he needs another year to grow into his game, though.

Just to point out, the Blackhawks have never been a hitting team. Even in 2010, they were only middle of the pack in that stat. They had more grinders and size than now for sure, but hitting isn't the stat I'd necessarily look at for indication of success.

If Sharp gets dealt tonight...think of me...I will be doing a shot in celebration.

Coyotes weren't naive when they acquired Ribeiro last summer, but Maloney thought they could manage. Called it "mistake" now.

Stop with the speculation, already. We will get a washed up, slow, poor 3C at best from Bowman for Kane to play with.

How can they say that about a player, isn't that demeaning to his character as he becomes a free-agent. How is the PA allowing the GM to say such things?

Can you tell I hate everything about the Phoenix franchise, it should not be allowed to exist in the NHL. I still want to know how the league owned the team. Seems a conflict of interest to me.
