OMG!!! LOOK AT THAT SHOULDER INJURY!!!

Overrated, selfish player, horrible shooter, no longer bothers with a two way game ... injury excuse gone ... and hopefully, so is he.

- Q...argh

I'm not sure I'd want him back after he donned the garb of the losers...

I for one am happy to not have Kelsler...just thought I'd throw that out there. Onwards and upwards. Sharp for Eller+, get on it Stan.
- Ogilthorpe2

Still works for me. Eller, Nielsen, etc.

I'm not sure which has me more interested: the draft, or how rapidly this board is approaching Mad Max territory.

Reinhart or Ekblad if they can pull the number 1?

If they got Gudbranson I think we see Reinhart on the roster next year.

Also, Bonino is 26 and Sbisa is 24. I think Murray just fleeced Benning. Got rid of 2 players he no longer wanted.
I know a few Ducks season ticket holders. The consensus is Sbisa was done there. So far, all are glad he is gone.

C'mon Stan, sweeten that deal to Dale with Leddy and/or Oduya. Get that number 1 at least.

- tredbrta

I'm very surprised that Kesler couldn't pull more than those 2 guys and the 24th overall. Either the Stanbo wasn't willing to give up much of anything or the Canucks wanted far more from the the Hawks than they did from the Ducks.

I have never thought the Hawks were going to empty out to get Kesler, it isn't their way. My guess all along has been Sharp to Florida in a big package to get that #1 pick which they would use on Reinhart.

He's still pretty good defensively imo

THAT was a helluva play. I think, overall, Sharp doesn't commit to the defensive end of the ice like he did in 2010 and before. He doesn't play ANY PK anymore. Not sure if that's because he doesn't want to or Q doesn't trust him

Not really. The maximum contract an individual player can have is 20% of the cap limit. At $68M, that would be $13.6M and $14.22 at the originally projected $71.1M.

The word on the street has them originally asking for $12M each. That means they are both leaving money on the table in their initial demands.

- NewToHockey

Yeah, I follow the whole 20% figure and max deal concept and that Kane and Toews aren't looking for max deals, just thought I remembered some people breaking down some numbers a few days ago and percentages caps of asking prices and comparing them to other bellwether deals that were needed for the union to boost contracts throughout the rank and file.

If the FOs and agents were operating at an expectation of a cap at 71 a few days ago when those Kane and Toews figures were first mentioned just thought it may stand to reason those expectations may come down a bit with the "new" cap number (which still may be incorrect).

I'm not concerned about losing out on Kessler either.

I'm more concerned if (and I keep saying "if", hoping it's wrong) the cap is at $68 for this year, what that does to future Hawk actions - and what's left after it all clears.

>While there are many days before the dust settles, just wondering if the Hawks do not obviously improve their team, will the credentialed Chicago hockey media ask why the Hawks are "in" on every key player but never close the deal?
>Cuz if the roster is status quo after countless "Hawks in" reports through July 1 then you know it's really just the Hawks blowing smoke up everyone's rear end
>Can't see how Sharp stays under any scenario with the cap situation -- otherwise he will be given away next year

The Hawks appear "in" on every illogical, overpriced player. For this team, with this cap, going after 6 and 7 million dollar centers (Stastny, Spezza) IS NOT workable, not logical, not even worth thinking about. But rumors abound.

It's almost like a PR spin...."we tried to get our center, but just didn't work out...we like our team".
