I like Morin because he is gritty, gets to the net, and will bring a physical element. His skating probably won't ever allow him to play elite level minutes, but I think he can be a very serviceable third or fourth liner and has a unique skillset the Hawks overall lack.

Ben Smith is a hero. I think Toews and maybe Hossa are the only two players who work as hard as that kid.

If they got Gudbranson I think we see Reinhart on the roster next year.

Also, Bonino is 26 and Sbisa is 24. I think Murray just fleeced Benning. Got rid of 2 players he no longer wanted.

I know a few Ducks season ticket holders. The consensus is Sbisa was done there. So far, all are glad he is gone.

Quick question: If the cap is indeed going to be lower, it would stand to reason the Toews and Kane numbers should fall a little as well, yes? The standard thought was it would be based on a % of the cap, so if the cap number falls theirs should drop as well...not that it helps that much but every bit will help.

Not really. The maximum contract an individual player can have is 20% of the cap limit. At $68M, that would be $13.6M and $14.22 at the originally projected $71.1M.

The word on the street has them originally asking for $12M each. That means they are both leaving money on the table in their initial demands.

And scored only 12 goals in the last 40 games of the season, and 4 goals (I think) in the first 18 games of the play-offs - AND took batting practice at Cubs Park three days after elimination.

The things that dreams are made of.

Hawks were lucky to beat STL and Minny but the Kings are an unstoppable force despite cashing in on almost every bounce and piece of luck needed after losing the first three games they played in the playoffs. The hyperbole is so thick in here its hard to breathe.

The Hawks have a LOT of things they need to do. Declaring them done and dead when a pick hasn't been made, FA hasn't even started, or a cap even announced is just grandstanding and ridiculous.
