Works BOTH ways. When I said "allowed" Turris or Neilsen to flourish...basically, take a look at their average stats to this point and ADD 20 points to it. Neilsen (in my view) goes from .65 points per game to PUSHING 1 PPG going from his line in NY to playing pivot for Kane and Saad. That goes without saying Kaner blossoms even more with someone who can skate faster than a zamboni.

I think very well it could be both, and I that's whY I don't see how the hell they get Spezza at a 7 million AAV. To do that they move some salaries and for a 1 year rental?

Well, reg'd Spezza...the Hawks could throw more Ottawa's way to get them to eat some of the cap hit/salary. It seems unlikely, but maybe a package of...Morin, Clendenning, 1st rounder, Versteeg. Not saying all of them. Versteeg would work for them, since Dale is eating half of the salary.

The only way they get SPezza is if they overpay in terms of quality or quanity.

You do realize they've been the most successful franchise in the NHL over the last six years or so right? You also realize they can't win a Cup every single year, right?

It has nothing to do with winning a cup every single year. It's about showing the intent to improve. HOW has our roster changed in the past five seasons? Yes, we won a cup in '09-'10 with a NEW roster that was improved. Since Bowman took the reigns that year, HOW has our roster changed by ANY means. Bowman has won ONE cup in the five years, and as a matter of fact, it's not HIM that won the cup, it's Dale Tallon.

May as well say Dale Tallon won TWO cups. Aside for 'Zus who I guess you can say was "instrumental" in the cup run two seasons ago, what exactly has Bowman done to improve the club?

He has been stubborn and has been mooching off of the roster that Tallon has built.

If Bowman wants to leave some sort of hand-print on the team, he has to do SOMETHING rather than act like his hands are tied. You are fortunate to play in a terrific market with a terrific fan base that EXPECTS to win year in and year out.

You have to adapt.

this is still a WIN in the offseason once they announce the extension for 88 / 19 and move some defensemen for a decent center (Vermette, Z. Smith, Turris, Nielsen)

Ottawa would probably GIVE us a prospect to keep Versteeg.

I think the wonder twins will sign friendly deals. Depending upon final cap numbers.....8.5-9.375 is my educated guess. Fair for both sides.
