Smith got a lot of PK time as the playoffs rolled on this year, even on the ice with Hossa for quite a bit of it.

Saad? Smith? Didn't Versteeg see significant PK time in 2010? Seem to recall him scoring some shorties.

- Ogilthorpe2

Kruger and Handzus were the two forwards deployed the most in the defensive zone, against higher quality of competition, and spent the most time while on the PK. Saad was deployed the least in the defensive zone (primarily because he was a part of the second or third PK unit). Smith is somewhere in the middle of Kruger and Saad's deployment. Both Saad and Smith can have their usage changed obviously, but that there will definitely be an adjustment, similar if not more major to after Frolik was traded.

Versteeg was used similarly to Saad in 2010, if I remember correctly, but it's been a while and information about usage wasn't as abundant then as it is now.

>Rick -- heard there was a lot of GM backlash when that "Winning GMs -- How They Built Their Cup Winners" (something like that) hardcover, coffee-table book came out -- featured lots of big-time, experienced GMs from many teams -- came out around Christmas after the Hawks 2010 Cup win
>Bowman was in the book, Tallon was not (technically correct and not Bowman's fault)
>Seemed like the Hawks were used a lot as a measuring stick to set value in a deals, but were not traded with -- other than organization buddies who graduated to GM jobs elsewhere
>While you are right about the circumstances now being very different and the moves need to be very different -- I think just as importantly the climate for Stan Bowman is different around the league, too
>Here's hoping he gets it done

Alright fellas...

I've received some complaints about the #freesource hashtag clogging up the thread. Let's move on from it. I don't want to hand out bans over it.

Thanks.

Crap like this is why Kesler will not get moved if the right offer is not there LOL

Who knows, Kesler could still be in Vancouver come October 1st.

People say that about the draft every year, and the start of a Free Agency, and the Trade Deadline...usually doesn't live up to the hype.
- Ogilthorpe2

Yes but normally the Hawks arent one of the most talked about teams in terms of blockbuster moves and trade activity...it seems like anything could happen tomorrow...from kesler/spezza being added to sharp being dealt to the usual low key depth additions..all are possibilities ....ive been looking forward to draft day since leddy shouldered the puck into his own net...either way we all know the hawks lineup will look different come training camp

So be it then, the Canucks will still suck, and the Hawks will be without a legitimate 2C.

Why do Canuck fans think Kesler is the only game in town for a #2 center?
