The one bounce away argument, IMO, short shrifts the Hawk players. I saw a few guys (at least) giving everything they had against a Kings team that was still just as big as it was in 2013, but now a lot faster too.

The Hawks willed their way back into that series—riding a lot on a few amazing games from Saad and Kane, and a lot of guts from Hjalmarsson, Toews and Hossa (all hurt).

If you look at it objectively and don't over-analyze it, it's hard not to see that the Hawks could benefit from getting bigger (without sacrificing speed or skill), and better at center. These are not new issues either.

It's just that Dean Lombardi and Darryl Sutter did not accept the conventional wisdom after last season that the Hawks were an unstoppable juggernaut. in fact, they set out to find a way to beat them. And they did. Now the ball is in the Hawks' court.

>Spot on
>Other than the Hawks, all recent Cup winners have been strong down the middle
>If Boston had won last year, you could argue that the last 4 Cups went to the two teams that were strongest at Center 1-4 -- and you could make that case even further back than the last 4 years
>In 2010, Sharp played well at 2C and Bolland was much, much faster than he is now -- had a beauty of a SH goal in game 1 -- strip that turned into a breakaway

Is that his actual cap hit or cap hit including bonuses? He does not deserve that kind of money. 2 is more reasonable.
- coldsteelonice

Good call, his actual salary was $900k. $3.2 mil was AAV with huge bonuses. No idea what they were or if he hit them.

But he is an RFA and who knows what he signs for. He hasn't been a productive offensive dman. I know he was a top prospect but other than that I do not know much.

His last contract on capgeek: http://capgeek.com/player/2093

Right handed shot.

My understanding is he had to submit a list of 6 teams. Anaheim and Chicago were on it. But I don't know if there is a codicil or something where he can have final say—because it certainly seems that way from other things I'm hearing.
- John Jaeckel

One of the regular writers (LeBrun?) posted a list that supposedly was Kesler's list of six and the Ducks were not on that list. They apparently just showed up at the party uninvited. Someone copied the tweet somewhere in the comments over the last week or so.

It seems like Kaplan is acting . They sound stupid and over exaggerated . Like no matter what the caller or guest says they host says the opposite . Like they are trying to recreate Boars and Bumstein . I cant stand the Game 87.7 so far .
- mrpaulish

I agree on the hosts, but the quality and knowledge of the guests, especially during NHL season and coverage was superior to any of the competing networks. That's a start.

Connect the dots...if Vancouver is suddenly shopping dman Garrison, per today's report, maybe it's because they might get Gudbranson.

My brother listens and that is the one thing he keeps telling me to listen for. Eddie O. for example, gets to be on for 45 mins. On the Score it is 5 mins, with Boars and Bernstein ridiculing most of what he says when he leaves.

They had/have a deal in place for Berglund, Garrison said no at first but is re-considering because of how upset he is with the team. Benning is playing the bad cop role.

@ChrisBlock: Patrick Sharp's not in play trade-wise right now about as much as Brian Campbell wasn't in play during draft week 2011. #Blackhawks

Dominoes won't fall until 6pm. NHL will use the drama as marketing. Plus, if number one pick is included, that'll be the first shoe to drop.

Source JJ ?

Hawks offer multi-player deal to Florida?
Rumored offer: Sharp, Roszival, D prospect Adam Clendening and Chicago #1 to Florida for their number 1 and Erik Gudbranson
Source: John Jaeckel

- mrpaulish

I'm assuming that means where Ecklund heard it.

If we trade Oduya and Leddy becomes a Top 4 D-Man, I don't like that equation at all. I know John J has really been talking up Leddy lately, but his play in his own zone is an abomination. It's going to get worse going from taking on bottom 6 players to now being matched up with the Getlafs of the world.
- kwolf68

Or it could get better now that he wont be paired with Q's "rotation of the day" defensive partner

THE ASSETS DONT MATTER .

Kesler has a full NTC . Its Hawks or bust . Thank You Mike Gillis . Its not just a change of teams for him .

-Wants to be a stud and play with Kane
-Wants to leave the Western Time Zone
-Kesler really loves the Anthem at the UC , he takes great pride in Patriotic Hockey

The Hawks will offer enough to make the deal , or they will find another #2 center.

Its just good business for the Hawks . Kesler NTC , Kesler wants Hawks , 3 HAWKS don't offer the entire farm because they don't have to. 4. New Canucks HC and GM want players to buy in 100% . If Kesler doesn't get moved now but at the deadline that's a 1/2 season of knowing he is gone , with less value in return because he will have less time left remaining on his contract .

Its all about leverage folks.

Now hearing:

Much going on

Something to Hawks/FL rumor. Confirmed.

Hawks still in on Kesler but yes, ANA has inside track. Moving Sharp is holding a lot of things (including this) up right now.

Sharp likely gone soon. FL could be the place, Sharp and Campbell out together the other night.

Hawks sending all that to FL for the #1 spot? Can only imagine that is being done to flip it for Kesler. Is there some top prospect the Hawks want at #1? And JJ do they need to move Sharp to fit Kesler under the cap?
