Paul - hope you know I was just giving you some crap about your misspelling of "belongs" into "bongs".

I'm very OK with $1.5 for Smith.

Wouldn't mind seeing Regin come back. Good utility guy who can play C. He really plays hard as well.

I didn't hear it, but hopefully he is basing that on recent history of Stan not making moves. But the bolded is stupid. Drives me nuts when people say that. I don't think they need to blow the team up, but improvements must be made
- eburgio

Agree, improvements should be made.

They were one bounce away but I think they were a bit fortunate to be there. Had they gone on to win it all my thought was they'd have stolen one or like a pitcher winning in baseball when he obviously doesn't have his best stuff.

Haven't seen Silicon Valley yet but have heard good things.

Also this is your daily reminder that if the Hawks fail to land Kesler, there are other centers out there so no one go offing themselves please. This board tends to get over dramatic at times.

Im not sure Raanta can be plugged in as a starter at this point without a substantial drop off. His second half was fairly brutal and ending the season with a .897 save percentage playing behind this defense does not inspire confidence. I think he may be better served getting a bit more seasoning in Rockford for a portion of next season. His pay cut also means that his entire salary can be buried if necessary.

And say what you want about Crawford being the product of a strong defensive system, he's shown a propensity to step up in big moments over the past two years. The thought of relying on a rookie during a playoff run next year is scary.

- DrunkenMidget

Agree. I used to rip Crawford all the time, but while he's no Dominik Hasek, he's good enough to win a Cup. He's proven that. The Hawks have bigger holes on their team than goalie.

It's a way to calm the masses....and add a positive outlook if they miss.

I am not buying it....the battle to get past STL and Minny was a helluva lot tougher then they anticipated and they can't get buy with just a great core.

Nobody in this town has a clue in the meida. Just do what Faber tells them.

- SteveRain

The Kings were six (?) elimination games away from not taking home the Cup either. One bounce in any of those games and their fans are probably freaking out about coming up short as well. No one is going to walk-through to a Cup these days. Not saying any of that to say the Hawks don't need to improve, just that the margin of error is razor thin for everyone.

The quality of the Blackhawk coverage by the majority of the outlets in this town is pathetic for the following the Hawks have now. I know the media landscape is changing rapidly but you'd think one of the outlets in the town would realize the dearth of coverage and try and capitalize by bringing in someone of quality and grab that area. All we have now are 6 bozos asking Q about momentum.

Lazurus can argue that point that they were a bounce away from going back to the Cup and most likely winning it, on the other side you can also argue that if the Hawks had addressed the #2C role last year they would've disposed of the Kings and eventually the Rangers as well.
- dan9189

The one bounce away argument, IMO, short shrifts the Hawk players. I saw a few guys (at least) giving everything they had against a Kings team that was still just as big as it was in 2013, but now a lot faster too.

The Hawks willed their way back into that series—riding a lot on a few amazing games from Saad and Kane, and a lot of guts from Hjalmarsson, Toews and Hossa (all hurt).

If you look at it objectively and don't over-analyze it, it's hard not to see that the Hawks could benefit from getting bigger (without sacrificing speed or skill), and better at center. These are not new issues either.

It's just that Dean Lombardi and Darryl Sutter did not accept the conventional wisdom after last season that the Hawks were an unstoppable juggernaut. in fact, they set out to find a way to beat them. And they did. Now the ball is in the Hawks' court.

True Detective was great...I tvibk it was episode 4 or 5..where Rust infiltrated the motorcycle gang, and that poopstorm busts out in that neighborhood, everything was done in one shot...I think it lasted 6 or 7 minutes...amazing shot...

Fargo is really good too...you should give it a try...And if u haven't watched Deadwood go and watch that too...Justified is pretty good imo, but now I'm hoping ti finish off BRISCO COUNTY JR. loved that show!!

I have a bad feeling that when Vegas picked the Hawks to win the cup this comming year, SB thought "we'll that was easy" and thinks he doesn't have to do anything. Hopefully he's not that dumb but you never know.

Agreed. Giving them the entire draft to find a real Center .

However , if Spezza comes west and Kesler stays west , Ill be kinda pissed.... If neither are with the Hawks

Thanks Capt!

You're the first I've heard comment on Fargo (tv series I'm assuming). I've heard great things about Deadwood and Justified.

Brisco County Jr seems to be a bit of a cult classic tv show but I've never seen it. Bruce Campbell, right?

Agreed 100%. It would be great to land a two-way center of Kesler's caliber, but it might take more assets than the hawks are willing to part with. It might also be difficult to make the numbers work in the long term with Kane and Toews extensions looming, unless Stan's going to unload some combination of Sharp, Bickell, Oduya, etc.

At the end of the day, you need a legitimate 2C who can actually keep up with Kane (Unlike the corpse of Handzus). Hopefully, no more wing-at-center experiments either. Guys like Vermette or Nielsen might not be the big splash that Kesler would, but either would be a massive upgrade.

Yeah, they were lucky to be 'one bounce away.' Credit to the guys on the ice for sacking up and bringing it like they did. Heart(s) of a champion!

Silicon Valley is good. I didn't care for it with the first 2-3 episodes, but it really picks up at the end and there's a scene in the finale that had me ROLLING. I also kinda work in IT, so these nerds make me laugh.

I'll check out True Detective. Summer time sucks for television, so I'll need to waste my time with something

Yup Bruce Campbell...good stuff...and I like westerns, so mixing it with scifi was cool to me...

Deadwood and Justified are excellent...And Fargo was really good too, yes the tv show some people didn't like the ending, but I didn't mind it...actors are good, acting is top notch, and the story is great...Shootouts,laughs,tears,drama it has it all..and Billy Bob Thornton was just as good as McConaughey in True Detective...And if u are into cartoons for grownups check out Rick and Morty!
