It's definitely time to trade him. We're not going to give him a raise in a year, he's not a top 4 dman on a Cup contender.
- Hemingways

much like Sharp, I don't see his trade value ever being higher....as many have noted, he plays against low quality competition and would likely be exposed if given more defensive responsibility against other teams top 6 forwards...we basically stole him from Minny anyway (i think Cam Barker is driving a zamboni somewhere in Canada right now) so any decent return for him would be a win in my book

You know your spoiled as a fan when....

But I do agree that selling Sharp now could be prudent at his age and with the season he's coming off of.

Yep. If only Hockey Canada wouldve snubbed him....he let his foot off the gas after he was named to Team Canada...he was a man on a mission the first half of the year and basically coasted around after he achieved his mission to make the best hockey team ever assembled (IMO)

Sharp hurt his shoulder late in the regular season, someone ran him into the boards, I can't recall which game, and he was skating to the bench with that shoulder slumped down. He basically didn't score again the rest of the year. He had been in a slump before that too but I think the shoulder was what did him in.

He's been in once or twice. Said he doesn't check in as often in the summer.

Exactly and shout out to Ogi Wan and Mr. P for hollering at me on twitter.

And shoutout to brothers Mo and EK, who had it right. I usually take a break from HB in the summer.

If anyone cares....i'm @philcoforde on twitter...hit me up and i'll follow back no prob.

Thoughts on a few things TOMAHAWK....CONGRATS to Duncs on the Norris
Great season for him for the most part.

As for Kesler ? Torn. His talent is perfect for our needs, but i wonder about his health and what he brings chemistry wise. As i've said, my observation is, he's a bit of mope and not a fan of MOPES.

Kane and Toews re: $12 mil/year ? Big tag no doubt, but it might be a bargain in 2 or 3 years.

Trading Sharp ? Might finally be time. His value might still be high as a 'glue guy', marketing pawn for another franchise. And he's certainly done his part in nurturing Batman and Robin along. And after his abysmal playoff, might be time to part with 10.

Good evening.

Did I see a yetti in here? That can't be good for anything or anyone. Thought we were ok at bickering and making up but apparently not.

Tomorrow should be fun.

i want to give him the benefit of the doubt bc he has been a key cog in the 2 cups but it was mostly his lack of burst and foot speed that I noticed in the playoffs...he didnt have the jump he had during most of the season...that is either effort or injury related...and unfortunately us common folk fans will never know for sure

Pierre Lebrun talked about Hawks' interest in Statsny today:

"The No. 1 center on the unrestricted free-agent market continued to generate a lot of interest on Day 2 of the window to talk to free agents, and as of late Thursday afternoon around 15 NHL teams had communicated in one way or another with Paul Stastny's camp led by agent Matt Keator.

We reported Wednesday that the St. Louis Blues were among the inquisitive teams, add the Winnipeg Jets and Chicago Blackhawks to the long list of teams that have checked in on the Stastny camp. The Jets could certainly use a top-six center and their interest in Stastny is said to be quite legitimate. The Blackhawks have spoken to Vancouver about Ryan Kesler in their search for a No. 2 center. Imagine Stastny centering Patrick Kane? Problem is, not really sure how the Hawks could afford Stastny under their cap when you consider that the Stastny camp is telling clubs they don’t intend on taking a pay cut from the $6.66 million a year the Team USA Olympian was making on his expiring contract.

For the Blackhawks, the more people you talk to around the league the past few days, the more you hear about Chicago making calls and looking at a number of different scenarios. They might very well be an active team here over the next seven to 10 days."

I like sharp a lot. He was great here, but now is the time to trade him, imo. I don't think he is one of those that should retire a hawk, especially with a salary cap. He has enough value to really help us re-load for the future and it wouldn't hurt us now as much as people think

I was rather enjoying the silence myself. 12 mil a bargain? Are the going to increase their production 95% to match their raise?

I worked at a hotel in Oakbrook when Joe Murphy was with the Hawks. One day my buddy who worked room service delivers a shake to Murphy's room (I have no idea why he was staying there) and Murphy asked where the closest strip club was.

You're right, he was slow afoot in the playoffs. Unfortunately most of the team looked exhausted too, he just wasn't productive.

I'm not against trading him but we really need to find a solid 2nd center, whether in a trade for Sharp or otherwise. I don't want to see them give him away for draft picks that won't help the team at all for 3 years and perhaps never.

Kruger, the 27th overall, and Adam Clendening works fine for me.

The cAp space comes in the form of another roster subtraction...

You know I also stood in that corner saying Sharp's shoulder was bad...but then how the frack was he hitting balls at Wrigley a few days after their final game?

Everyone talks about his production yet nobody says a word about his attitude. How many in uncharacteristic stupid retaliatory penalties did he take in the 2nd half of the season? His whole demeanor changed in the 2nd half.

How about something like Sharp and Kruger to COL for ROR and a 4th rounder?

What is ROR like on defense?

Unless it is a top 5 pick this year then I agree completely. I would demand a high end prospect(s) or young NHLer that can contribute next year bc the Hawks need to win NOW...before Seabrook starts moving like Orpik
