im guessing most people here do not, him or eric weinrich
- tampabaydoompatrol

Weinrich was more of a puck moving Oduya type, I don't remember people expecting him to be more physical. Daze was always a whipping boy for not using his size more effectively.

Whats the latest? Bollig is a cap dump, but a small one...Is Spezza for Sharp dead? What about Eric Staal? EK has Carolina willing to eat some contract. At this point I would settle for Mike Richards happily

Many people are saying Senators are not getting offered what they want, for Spezza. Seems like they may hold onto him.

Seems like an idle threat to me. I think they're just posturing for a better deal. I'd be very surprised if he's not moved before camp.

Apparently I've missed a lot. Can someone give me a quick update on everything that has happened in the last 24hrs?

Mike Richards isn't coming here in a trade. Even if we traded Sharp to open up the cap room, in a year we would be shopping Richards. Nobody seems to comprehend Sharp or Seabrook is gone in a year to make room for Toews, Kane, and Saad's raises. That was a problem with adding Kessler who has 2 years left on his deal but one they apparently were willing to address in a year if they could get him without giving up Saad.

have to play big, not just be big. remember Daze?
- ikeane

Ahh.. The flashbacks of the biggest female genitalia that refused to play to his strength....Size. He made Bickell look like one mean S.O.B.
6'6"(I think) wimp.
Although he did have a bad back. Never more frustrating then watching him avoid contact.
But today is supposed to be about looking toward the future. Not visiting the past

Luc Snuggerud
Unbridled offenseman who is a tremendous puck carrier with PP QB qualities, dangle, and transition skills. The question may be is just a riverboat gambler, or somewhat lacking in the HQ to understand situations and the ice to utilize team attack or does he disregard it to go one man show. Long term project with need of more strength and less predicabilty in his attack skills.

Fine. 10 hrs? I know we didn't make any blockbuster trades or anything. Did we trade anybody?

Daze was a finesse player in a big body. He scored, I don't know why everyone hated him. He wasn't a bum. They kept expecting him to automatically be a physical guy when he never had been. That's like thinking someone is automatically good at basketball or volleyball just because they're tall.

I meant serious as in was it sarcastic. You never know. lol.

We traded Bollig to Calgary for a 3rd round pick to free up cap room. We're now $700k or something under the cap.

You probably know we traded up from the 27th pick last night to the 20th to take a center who may or may not go to college or back to the CHL next season.

They've taken at least 3 U.S. players so far in the draft.

No other trades.

Yeah, I have no problem with that trade. He was useful in the regular season but taking a roster spot in the playoffs for no reason. The kid we took sounds like he might one day be something too.

glad to see Bollig moved bc of that 1.25 cap hit..but he was fairly effective as the Hawk's enforcer.....so who replaces Bollig's physicality and fighting ability??
- EnzoD

Enforcers are becoming a rarity in today's hockey. Having guys who are skilled but can thrown down when needed is going to be the norm soon. The Hawks philosophy seems to be to retaliate with stepping up their play rather than fights anyway.

I did not mind Bollig as a 4th liner with minimal minutes, but his new price tag moved him to being paid more than his role required.

You forgot the panic, the angst, the vitriol, and the obituaries written for Stan and an off-season that has...(cue Karen Carpenter) only just begun.

In a shallow draft like this one, it's smart to take USHL kids because they'll have a few years in college to grow and become better.

Phil, read this. NCAA kids, the USHL is the #1 feeder of the NCAA, have a very good percentage of playing in the NHL and for longer. http://collegehockeyinc.c...a-leads-nhl-draft-success
