Again, I disagree. - PhilMeister89
In this case there really is nothing else to look at because of the timing of Getzlaf/Perry deal and the fact they are as valuable to the Ducks as Kane and Toews to Chgo.

Want to get things done? Deal TT for the #1 overall as centerpieces in first trade. Use that #1 plus a # 1 2015 for Kesler and their #2 2015. Deal Oduya and Sharp for picks or whatever. This is plan B if Statsny says no to Chg. Bowman gets partial or full season to determine if Leddy takes that next step. One year also for a few dman prospects in Rockford to prep. One year also to determine if Kruger can become an effective #3c. McNeill, Danault, Carey, Nordstrom are late season possibilities. By then Morin has played himself into a more prominent role for Chg or some other team. Hayes is like don't let the door hit you on your way out of town.
Hopefully Rosy can be given away. Stuck with Versteeg but there is slight possibility he could be dealt later in the season should he show that he is healthy. - jhawk59

Why can't tv stations allow you to pay 4.99 a month and stream their stuff online.
I suppose that would undercut the cable companies but (frank) em - Sheppy99
ala-cart. it's going that way. IMO, with the trajectory of technology, the "cable" companies either morph into a PPV/Netflix type or go bye-bye.
Comcast, U-verse, etc ... as you see them today will be done, gone, kaput; in less than 5 years, maybe 3. |

Whatever cap problems the Hawks have in the future because OF Kane Toews AND a Hossas deals.it has been worth every penny - mrpaulish
Gimme 3 cups in 6/7 years, or 4 in 8/9 years and I'll agree. |

Getzlaf and Perry signed for 8,625,000 out of possible max deals of 12,860,000. That puts them at 67% of max.
Parise and Suter signed at 63% of max deals
Crosby signed at 72.5% of max
Malkin signed at 66.81% of max
So if Toews and Kane were to each get 70% of max, that means right about $10 million each. - Tanuki
This! All of this $12M plus talk is probably to make the deal they eventually get look generous to the team and fans. 65%-75% of max should be the range. |

Fair enough. But since this is essentially a "new market", don't Toews and Kane set the new bar? And I think it would be higher because of these players skill levels and accomplishments. |

Florida doesn't want another prospect as they have plenty of those in the system. It would take a player like Sharp who can score some goals for the team and provide some sort of leadership. |

To be clear I never said it wouldn't be higher, it should be as cap is higher...But higher is $9.5-$10 mill, not $12 million.

I don't buy $12M a season. If they break the bank, they will be playing with a lot ELC and retreads on the cheap and they both know that - Sundevil
You'd think that even if 12m is what they are starting off with, its just a starting point. Franchise player discounts, negotiations.. I'd expect 9.5-10 each. |

I'm not an advocate for $12 mil. I'm young but I understand negotiations and the concept of "you don't pay sticker price." If the Kane/Toews camp came to the table wanting $12, I expect it to be less. Just saying that I don't expect their contracts to be less than anybody's currently. I think they have earned the right to set the bar this time around.

EXACTLY. Which is why Donald Fehr will do whatever is in his power to make sure they get every last penny he thinks they are worth. He did it in MLB. |
