He'd be an upgrade on the 4th line...not exactly what we need...we need on upgrade on the top 2 lines...and that likely means trading away some assets (1 or 2 of Plekanec, Eller or Desharnais) and promoting Galchenyuk to C.
It also means getting rid "du bois mort"...Briere, Gionta...Bourque?

At 3,5M$ a year i really don't see MB tradind DD, in fact he is looking to find a big RW to play with him and Patches. If Gionta sign for 3M or so a year i'm fine with it and wouldn't mind that Bourque-Eller-Gionta line. So, in the end, they will need a LW vet to play with the 2 Gallys.  |

Let's put it this way... there are much better deals out there for Gionta than the one he'd get from Montreal. So if he does stay, it's not going to kill the Habs.
As for a top 6 fwd, I think they're working very hard on that.
