Montreal Moving Rene Bourque?
Sure wouldn't be the least bit surprised since he does not (somehow) fit into Michel Therrien's system... I have heard Anaheim and Pittsburgh with serious interest. more on this for sure.

It's not his hatred for THerrien.

It's his love for Brière.

ok fair enough. say they move him.
then what? you've lost Vanek. you move Bourque, you're getting NOTHING in return. so you're down 2 top 9 forwards. who replaces them? re-sign Brian Gionta and play him on the second line? yay! Dale Weise on the third line? yay!
not sure we should be giving him away.

I think (and that may be foolish) that teams will make a little bit more trades before July 1st because they can talk to UFAs early.

Let's say the Habs have an agreement with UFAXYZ... they'll be in a position to move another player before the deadline.

No?

With his performance in the last PO i dunno really. Eller is more physical while Berglund has the edge defensively. And both are 45pts producer pretty much...

I don't particularly like Therrien...I don't hate him... but regardless, to put the blame for Bourque's lack-luster play on Therrien's shoulder and saying that he doesn't (somehow) fit in Therrien's game plan is a clear sign that someone has not watched Bourque play over the years.

There's only one person that can help Bourque, and it's him. And 2/3 of the time, he's not helping himself.

well it's a risk (players could back out, get better offers) but i guess you're right. personally i do not think Montreal will be active in UFA outside of a depth guy or two.

I'm pretty sure that he is working on deals right now and will be looking to add a top 6 forwards via the UFA market. He is building for the long term and want his team to keep maturing.

26 pts for Eller...

30 pts in shorten season...but he's shown to be inconsistent...hence why his shorten season stats did not translate to a full season schedule.

Berglund also inconsistent...

if Eller was a 45-point player, i would agree with you. problem is, he's a 30-point player. Berglund is the better player all round.

ok but adding a top 6 forward through trade is going to cost picks/prospects (see Vanek trade). so building for the long term doesn't really jive with trading for guys that can help now.

they can beat Belgium. Belgium hasn't been anywhere near as impressive as everyone thought they would be. and they were in the softest group in the tournament.

Well i agree that the 45 pts is a projection more than an accomplishement at this point but while you're right i would add that Berglung had a better environment and cast support around him. Eller has potential and looked like he understood (during the PO) what he needs to do in order to be efficient in the NHL. I would give him a 2 years deal and if it's not working move him.

Well we really don't know who MB is talking to, some teams aren't rebuilding neither and might be looking for a replacement more than some youth like the Hawks, the Ducks etc. And i'm not sure the Jets are moving Kane for picks and prospects. As for the Habs, they have Plekanec, Gorges, Emelin Bourque and even Eller for the right price as trade baits...

fair enough but i don't think there's much value in any of the players you listed. maybe Plekanec had serious value but the others are periphery pieces.
