I think they try to ice the best team and obtain the best assets right now.

Grab the players with first rd grades for the second rd.

Any player can be had in a trade but your going to pay a hefty price for a few.

I always thought if we get a top 3 pick in 2015 it will come from long island.

I thought about it all night while working, and I am torn between Barbashez and Lemieux. Im leaning more Barbie though I think.

This team is a lot more than a couple of trades/free agents from getting put of the bottom. They may not be 30th, but they'll still be bottom five. People seems to be way too optimistic about the effect Nolan will have on this roster, which has been essentially stripped down to nothing.

And from Tim Murray's comments about the lottery yesterday, he seems to believe this as well. Like it or not, Darcy Regier put this team in a position where tanking for a lottery pick next year is the only way this team has a chance at winning a championship in the next decade.

I agree. The team just doesn't have enough talent to get out of the bottom 5. Scoring will be a problem again. And there's no guarantee Reinhart makes the team. I suspect they keep him in the WHL so he doesn't have to have the burden of carrying the team. If he plays with the Sabres, too many fans will expect him to put up 30g and 50a.

Most "big time" media sources had this happening. The only ones who didn't were little blog types trying to get some attention. This draft went essentially as expected.

I was really hoping we'd have a 4 yr streak of multiple 1st rd picks. It ends at 2 but still an opportunity today. Next year will be a fun draft. I'm looking forward to rooting against the Isles.

Murray did fine moving our vets at the deadline and taking what appears to be the consensus top center in the draft. I'm still intrigued by his first unexpected signature move. So far everything he's had to do is what we all assumed.

I was surprised there wasn't more trades and shuffling of positions . The way Couver was making noise all day made me think it was gonna be more busy come 7:00

agreed

I think his first signature move was the kings trade, 2 seconds and mcnabb was a big price so if the kid pans out it will be his initial stamp on the team

I really like barbeshaws highlight reel but we do have a lot of foward prospects reinhart, grigorenko, armia, Larson, fasching, deslaurier, compher, Bailey, carrier and many more. Our d prospects might b on the sabres as soon as next year and there is a big drop off after ristolanen, zadorov, Pysyk and McCabe.

the window opening up to wow free agents before the signing period demolishes the thoughts of trading ufa's rights before the signing period begins

I would like a shake up trade, vet for prospect and pick or for salary dump and picks

lack of legit top 6 talent with prospects is why I think they need to keep plugging away

aside from sam, the rest of the prospects up front are question marks at best, and I think girgs is a third liner and foligno may end up being a third liner at best
