I'd be very content with getting just Mantha, honestly. Unfortunately this may mean we pick Ekblad, but still... idk.
- LetsGoBuffalo75

If they want Myers, then they will have to overpay.

How good is Mantha? Is he worth Myers straight up?

Edit: Checked him out, looks good but I think they would still need more for BUF to consider moving him

Another move that will bite Buffalo in the rear in years to come..
- Maximum Signal

based on???

often injured

very inconsistent

he got paid and rewarded the team by being out of shape

he is of the age where he should bring it every night and if a nice return can be had, it is not a bad thing to move him

Murray was not the gm that fell in love with myers and I am sure had an opinion of him before he took over as gm, let alone since

we want change, give murray a chance to put his stamp on the team

that is of course assuming there is an offer on the table

if the trade is made before the draft, after the first pick, right before detroits pick
the timing will also tell us a bit about the trade if it happens

So Sabres take Ekblad and trade Myers..........

They better get a good return

- sbroads24

I'd be Ok if the Sabres did any of the following:
- trade out of 2 but stay in top 4 (getting one of the 3 Fwds)
- pick Sam Bennett at 2
- pick Sam Reinhart at 2
and
Trade Myers for a top 15 pick, plus an A Prospect.
Just a couple of targets...
- Tuch
- Virtanen
and move up again to grab a guy like Ho-Sang

if the team is going to tank for 2015, like many are saying on here

this move ensures it

I would not go that far

if it was hawks, rangers I could see the rangers winning it

- homiedclown

Man I dunno. I guess I just saw the Hawks a little differently

-Draft Ekblad @ 2.

-Trade Myers & a 2nd rd pick to Det, for #15 overall & T. Tatar.

Buffalo gets Ekblad & T. Tatar, while still having #15 overall & two 2nd rd'r s to play with.

This team on its own will be a contender for last. Move Stewart and Ehrhoff as well and only sign lower end players we should be fine.

@BNHarrington 26m
#Sabres GM Tim Murray says No. 1 odds next year drop to 19-20 % and confirms they would only drop to No. 2 in '15 if last/lottery loser

AKA tanking is still the best way to get elite talent

So its not a big deal and based on how the numbers work out and where the Islanders end up it could work out better this way!

Why tank now...were getting screwed over on the #1 next year anyway...NHL wants to decide where McDavid goes in their closed door draft lottery. Really why keep it a secret...no better than the wall street thugs...it's all about how the NHL profits not who deserves the pick.

If trading Myers to Detroit for 15 + I want to them package 15 and a couple 2nd rounders to move into the top 10. Ekblad/Bennett/Draisatil at #2 plus Virtanen/Nylander/ehlers with the other first rounder and that's a solid first draft

I have been saying for months not to bank on a top 3 pick next season, from sabres play

Yes exactly,

Don't why Buffalo sports fans always bring out the woe is me flag and wave it like it's their day job. We didn't get screwed here, one pick lost some odds the other gained some. It's still the same system basically for 2015.

Those who are banking on a top pick for 2015 are putting the cart before the horse. But those looking at a heroic run to 9th place just because the percentages changed should buy NHL gamecentre and just watch 2012 sabres on re run while the present day team gets rebuilt.

So Miller is not around to hate , so you made the logical move and now have Myers to rail on !! Good for you . Too much was expected too soon from this kid . Murray has said the same thing . For some reason these big kids take longer . His development is way ahead of Chara's who at his age was not nearly developed as well and a nobody with the Islanders . There is a reason teams bring this kid up right away when they call Buffalo . They see the untapped potential that was stunted here in Buffalo. If nolan lets this kid play the way he did when he took over last year the development on this kid could be amazing . You can't teach size and he has great skating ability for someone his size . But let's throw him away . For Buffalo fans being so Smart . They can be irrational in their thinking at times.

If the return is undeniable trade him , I agree . But you better get a great return because this kid is only going to get better . And I would hate to look back 3 -5 years from now and regret the trade.

Maybe we can give Detroit the lease to the new Harbor Center as well while they have us bent over !

never been a fan of myers since he came in out of shape once he got paid, he admitted this

do you disagree that he is often injured?

do you disagree he is inconsistent?

all players should be on the table for a trade, if the return is right

just because we have a different opinion on something, does not give you the right to make it personnel

counter with facts and have a logical conversation

this goes out to a bunch of posters

trust me it makes the site more fun for all
