Before we really start digging into hockey, anyone think the Sixers are pulling a major league? Not being fan friendly and scaring off fans so they can move the team to jersey and with his Devils?

My thinking is that since Harris owns the Devils and the building he could move team there. Then he isn't paying to play in wells fargo center. Also I have a feeling in a couple years he will flip the team and sell it. Now he can sell the Devils, Sixers and building and make MONEY compared to what he paid to get them.

It's a good theory and it could happen.

I'm not too worried about it, however.

The NFL is an obvious exception.

They could field a team in Podunk, Idaho and even if no one came, it would still make money because of the NFL TV contract.

True. Although there are cities where people don't care about the NFL. Jacksonville for one. They have to tarp off their upper deck seats which is about the most pathetic thing I've ever seen.

Right...but one of the 3 is now crippled or mildly hurt or something (maybe he has leg cramps???), so the top 2 is apparently where you really wanna be.

I don't know if embiid throws that big of a wrench into hinkies plan

If he's healthy. Parker is there for the sixers. Who I don't want. And the sixers have shown no interest.

Now they lose trade value at #3 I think for sure

But their best bet will prob be to trade down. If its the celtics at 6. Maybe they can pry the 6 and 17 from Boston and their first next year for #3, Thad, and a 2nd

- Just5

yes but the sixers didn't tank and win 19 games to trade down from 3.

Embiid is 20 years old. He's got the same foot injury that has ended players careers. He's also had back issues. He's already out 6 months from the surgery he just had. I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole.

And yet some rich guy would still buy the Jags in a heartbeat because the NFL prints money regardless of who shows up to the actual games.

And not for anything, but going to an NFL game is not some huge treat. The experience of watching at home (cheaper beer, frequent replays, clean bathrooms, no bumholes, etc.) far exceeds the in-stadium experience, IMO.

I know them enough to know they're terrible, will remain terrible, have an amazingly horrible history of developing high picks outside of Iverson, and that, as much as I hate soccer, I find The Union to be far most interesting. It's about time for them to go find an $8M guy to sit out a season, draft a bust, and just hope for next year.

Yeah. I just thought it was funny. Tried to tank and everything seemed to back fire. And i get this major league vibe that harris sits there and just laughs at the empty seats so he can move them.

I've had season tickets since I'm a kid. I love going to NFL games. The things you mention are an issue, but the overall experience including the tailgate is a lot of fun.

I can't believe there isn't an NFL team in Los Angeles. That really is a travesty.

In Major League, the team was intentionally put together to fail and it was just the players all playing with nothing to lose that made them good.

The Sixers, on the other hand, are a team that's put together with the intent of being good, but it just run by one idiot after another from the owner on down. Possibly the most mis-managed team in pro North American sports.

Ok. Sorry for going off course. So if the Flyers are serious about getting into the Top ten as Hextall says there is a drop after, who do you think they might be targeting. I hope Virtanen or Dal Colle but not sure they even drop to ten

I've been to a few games (2 last year), whenever I can get free tickets. It's cold, it's crowded, the seats are hard and have no leg room, the food's overpriced, the tickets are WAY overpriced, and parking is both expensive and a traffic nightmare both in and out.

I'll have my friends over, drink with them in my nice warm house, sit in a nice comfy chair with lots of leg room, let them drive home with relative ease after the game, all for about $10 including food and drink.

I understand the atmosphere and all, but it's such a pain in the ass and just not enjoyable in general.

Very true.

It's not like Philadelphia doesn't have a very rich basketball history such that fans don't support them when they are competitive. Seems implausible that the franchise couldn't fall ass backward into a good decision or two.

If I were the Sixers, I'd fill in the useless spots on the roster with good kids from the local college teams. Ones who didn't make the draft or weren't signed. They'd play hard, and the fans would actually have a reason to go see them. Imagine a team filled with guys that were stars on Drexel/Villanova/St. Joe's/etc. The fans would come out in droves to see them, for at least like 20 games.

The one thing I disagree with is the tickets being overpriced. My season tickets are $140 a game for lower tier seating. There are only 16 NFL games, every game is huge. Look at the prices of tickets for other sports. MLB, NHL, and NBA good seats all exceed $100 usually. These are sports with far more games. A single game in the other sports in the middle of the season is almost meaningless.

I'm really curious to see where Jussi ends up. He is the one free agent I would like to see Hexy go after. I think he can slid up and down the lines, play strong defense, add some scoring, and help immensely in the shootouts.

I'll agree a bit. That said, I usually only go to 1-2 baseball games a year, and I prefer 2nd/3rd level in the outfield (~$30 or so). I have Flyers season tix, $43 a piece (my preferred seats), and I split them with a friend. Doing the quick math, $43 x 22 / 10= ~$95 for a football equivalent. I just think it's a bit high, but yes, it's better than paying $100 for 44 Flyers games or $40 for 81 Phillies games.

I agree, he's the guy I'd go after if he hits the market. Very solid top-9 player.
