There is no way VL gets moved this weekend unless the flyers retain salary AND take a contract back.
So this might actually be pretty quiet day - nails
What makes you say that? The bonus or something else? |

The player taken back would have to be a pretty good player that they have interest in, to do that and retain salary.

Yeah, there are a lot of people thinking that Hexy can just make Vinny's deal disappear while getting picks in return. While I'd love to see that happen, it's a very unlikely scenario.
However, if he can pull it off, the guy would go right into Batman status to me.

Lecavalier will be gone, it's rare a GM tells the agent to find a trade and the dude ends up staying. There's a mutual feeling of disenchantment here, player and team both want to go separate ways.
I do expect it being a case where the Flyers either have to eat money or take a contract back, and as long as the contract isn't as long or expensive as Vinny's, or if it's simply a guy that fits better, then it'll happen. - Jsaquella
I don't think that Hextall telling his agent that he has permission to seek a trade, is a guarantee of anything. A fit that both sides agree to, still has to be found. Hextall is just letting his agent help with the legwork.

Yeah, in this case, 3 parties need to agree to a deal (well, 2 to a deal, one to approve) so it's not a sure thing. I think he WILL get traded, but it's far from assured. |

Very few GMs are going to trade for VL before the bonus gets paid. The owner would probably have some words for that GM immediately after.
And the teams that need vinny or need to get to the cap floor, are not the most weathly teams, so they aren't going to be paying that bonus either |

Yeah, I think this is a bit of Hexy saying I don't have time/can't find anything right now and you can help out or just sit in limbo. |

A retained salary deal can pay for that bonus.

Okay. Yeah, I figure he'll be traded after the bonus, if at all. Just wasn't sure if that was the reason you were giving or something else. |

I agree. They have the draft and then free agency along with the open period to talk to free agents going on right now. It's just adding another resource to try and find a deal.

I am still of the mind that Vinny still has something to give (If healthy). That he makes this team better next season if he plays 2nd line C. Looking towards the future though, this contract needs to be gone just like Hartnells. |

but a max of 25% right?
Can they retain 25% of the salary AND 25% of the bonus?
regardless, if I am a GM, I wait until july 2 and none of that bonus exists |

I beleive the max is 50%. Salary and bonus are the same thing. All a signing bonus is, is part of a players salary paid up front or at a different agreed upon time. It is not in addition to a player salary. |
