You think Streit is number two? The guy who plays on the second PP unit and doesn't kill penalties? The guy who doesn't go clear the oppositions best players?
- SuperSchennBros

Maybe he meant in terms of where they land on our depth chart?

Shea Weber's matched offer sheet is our #2 defenseman.

It's a unicorn, of course it can. But its backchecking needs works.

Edit: Most unicorns are actually natural right wingers.

I see him and Brassard both holding out for $4m or more. They have the stats and age to demand that type of money.
- Feanor

He's been pretty stingy w/ his RFA's lately... MDZ and Stepan could have probably gotten $4-5M out of him in years past, but they both got Subban'd. I expect he'll be similarly tough w/ Zucc/Kreider/Brassard.

Yes he is. Making top money to do so. If he had a pp role I wouldn't be as skeptical. Plus Hexy didn't mention him at all when talking about the vacant wing spot. I just get that feeling
- Just5

Read isn't making top money. And with Hartnell being moved, Read might see more PP time. And it's not as if he's not capable of playing on the PP.

Some guy tweeted @RonHextall to get us E Kane

E Kane favorited the tweet.

Its all speculation from there.

I'd deal Brassard before ponying up more than his qualifying amount.

A 3rd liner? Pker? Coach doesn't see him as top line option? That's top money

Sather's quietly become an almost competent salary-cap manager.
- Tomahawk

Tough on the bridge contracts, ruthless with anybody who he feels wants more than they are slotted...new era in the league. Had to adapt to survive. That run to the finals means he might be bulletproof until he decides to retire, and now players know that he will absolutely trade you if you try to stare him down.

Here is where the flaw is. Call him a 3rd liner all you want. Only Giroux and Couturier play more per game then Read does, among forwards. Both in total icetime per game, and in ES icetime per game.

Where are you going to get a better 2C than Brassard for less than $3.7 million?

He's not much different then any other GM. He has Hagelin and Stepan on bridge contracts. And they have a bunch of players to sign.
