A's are strongly dependent on linemates' ability to finish... plus all three guys are primarily shooters, so to compare them through goals seems pretty fair.

Defense is the other area where Vinny doesn't measure up to the other two... Kovy and Nash are competent both ways.

I don't think he projects as a top-line winger. He and Couturrier have a good thing going and I'd hate to break it up.

Edit: Just like he probably didn't say Laughton or Coburn were good fits for the top line wing, because that's not what they project to be in his eyes.

Phillips was a good complimentary player. I always liked their defense when it was Phillips with Redden, back before Redden became Redden.

Outside of Zuccarello's re-up, they seem set up pretty well for next year. Cheap depth and kids should get them over the finish line.
