A's are strongly dependent on linemates' ability to finish... plus all three guys are primarily shooters, so to compare them through goals seems pretty fair.
Defense is the other area where Vinny doesn't measure up to the other two... Kovy and Nash are competent both ways. - Tomahawk
Agreed. Kurri and Robitaille made Gretzky what he was. |

Yeah, but Read's a fantastic PKer. Gagne was not by that point in his career. - jmatchett383
Yes he is. Making top money to do so. If he had a pp role I wouldn't be as skeptical. Plus Hexy didn't mention him at all when talking about the vacant wing spot. I just get that feeling |

Berube already said he doesn't think Read is a good option for 1LW because he wants a stronger player on the boards to complement G and V.
So I double checked Nash's cap hit and he is the only Ranger forward signed past this coming season. |

I don't think he projects as a top-line winger. He and Couturrier have a good thing going and I'd hate to break it up.
Edit: Just like he probably didn't say Laughton or Coburn were good fits for the top line wing, because that's not what they project to be in his eyes. |

Sather's quietly become an almost competent salary-cap manager.

I'm really intrigued with the E Kane thing. Would make a nice core player to grow with the team and compliment Roo |

Jovo ahead of Chris Phillips?
I don't know about all that. - johndewar
He was an All-Star early on. Phillips is a steady yet unspectacular player. |

Trade for E Kane
Trade for Ekblad
Dump Vinny
Can't trade Vinny until July 1st
Sixers are gonna win the Championship next year
Everything sucks.

I don't know if having ~$22m to fill out almost half your roster is a great position to be in right now with the way salaries are climbing. |

Wow, I actually had to look it up but Jovo has 500 NHL points; almost double Phillips.
If my life depended on knowing that, I'd be deader than fried chicken. |

For the first 10 years or so, he was a legit top-pair defenseman, then his knees gave up.
Phillips was a good complimentary player. I always liked their defense when it was Phillips with Redden, back before Redden became Redden. |

Outside of Zuccarello's re-up, they seem set up pretty well for next year. Cheap depth and kids should get them over the finish line. |

Jovo had some really good years in Vancouver (17 goals and 48 points in '01-'02), which I don't remember at all.
Yeah, I was way off on that one. |

Just because MacD may play on the third pair doesn't make him your typical third pairing defenseman.
Flyers spread the wealth on thier blue line, I would label thier Dmen as follows.
Coburn(1)-Timonen(4)
Streit(2)-Grossmann(5)
MacD(3)-Schenn(6) - Baxter27
You think Streit is number two? The guy who plays on the second PP unit and doesn't kill penalties? The guy who doesn't go clear the oppositions best players? |

I see him and Brassard both holding out for $4m or more. They have the stats and age to demand that type of money. |

Some guy tweeted @RonHextall to get us E Kane
E Kane favorited the tweet.
Its all speculation from there. |
