1. Vincent Lecavalier (25% retained salary) and Nicklas Grossman for Tomas Fleischman, Quinton Howden, and John McFarland
2. Tom Gilbert signed for 2 years, 3 million (1.5 million; a hypothetical overpayment)
3. Al Montoya signed for 1 year, 1 million (very fair raise)
4. Tye McGinn and Jasone Akeson both given modest raises based off recent contributions to the big club (Akeson a bit more so due to strong playoffs)
5. On Day 1, you LTIR Pronger and recall Scott Laughton and either Brandon Manning or Oliver Lauridsen as your #7dman (or both if you waive one of Bellemare, McGinn, Akeson, or Rinaldo)
Thoughts? - mochoson
So gilbert puts up a strong season in Florida, playing 21 mins a night, and sees Nikitin go for 4.5, then decides to take 1/3 of that to play in Philly (and thats an overpayment?)
Also Florida is looking to make a big move, but why take on the bloated salaries of both Lecavalier and Grossman? I cant imagine that is the $7 million move that Tallon is hoping for

I would rather have Pouliot than Fleischmann, and I am thinking he would not be 4.5M
I like Gilbert but he will cost more than 1.5. Bottom line I just want to see change on this team and going into the season with same blueline will not help.

you are right sir! There is not much in the way of FA D-men and I can easily see Gilbert getting 3.5 |

I would be really surprised if Hexy drafts a guy in the first round who is considered under sized. Really think he values size pretty high in his priority list. |

This team can add a lot of change without adding a single player. If they can get better at team defense, and in puck support, as well as sharpening up the breakout game. This team can get a lot better at 5 on 5 play, even with the current defense makeup. That's what Berube was trying to accomplish last year. But now he has a full training camp, and a fresh start. |

I believe I heard the mantra in LA was draft big guys that can skate, or guys that can skate that play big and we can teach the to play in a system. |

Agree, that certainly looks to be the case. I think the smallest guy on the roster might have been Justin Williams. For this reason, I would be surprised if guys like DeAngelo or Ho Sang would be drafted by Hexy in the first round. Maybe they take a chance on a more smaller, skilled guy in the later rounds, but early on, doubtful.
I would bet Hexy has a man crush on Ritchie. |

I can't look it up, but I would be curious as to how long on average a forward drafted by LA that made the roster this year was in their minor system.
I bet at least 2.

PK Subban had "character issues" too... I'm sure glad the Flyers drafted Kevin "Captain Character" Marshall instead of that guy. |

I think that is what the Umberger trade does. They might lose some offense but got a guy better for the system, attention to detail, and shorter term.
If the talks of them getting into the top ten are true then they have to have someone they target that fits what they want. I am still holding out hope it is Virtanen. |

But, but, but..... All the other teams passed on Subban too....
Besides, Marshall is a much better dancer than Subban.
What a tool shed this guy is....

In return for the #1 pick, Florida would most likely be asking for Couturier, a top prospect and our pick at 17. It ain't gonna happen. |

Sure the team will have another year under Berube and his system and there will be improvement, hopefully we will see it most on 5-5.
But this team needs more than what it has. Replacing Hartnell with a Pouliot who is faster, and can also play with an edge would be a benefit. Faster... I think that is what Hextall wants.
Berube wants players to be more responsible. I would love to dump Rinaldo and pick up Brian Boyle who can play quality minutes.
If we are unable to improve our D at the back end, let's hope we can do it at the front.

I'd be willing to give up B Schenn and the pick, maybe Hagg as well, but that is it.
However, if I'm Tallon, its Couturier or no deal, and the Flyers aren't moving Couturier IMO

I'd be very happy with adding Pouliot and Boyle, but to make that happen they have to be able to move VL without eating any salary. |

Eh, I don't like that at all.
I think people are expecting the Flyers to move up simply because this draft is in Philly and really, no other reason. I doubt anyone really has a source that has indicated that the Flyers are moving up in the draft.
Hell, absolutely no one had the Hartnell trade ahead of time. Why should we think anyone knows if they are moving up?
The only media type I have given any sort of credence to before the draft is Craig Button because he called the Morin pick last year. |

Is Peter Meuller a wing? I saw he is trying to come back to NHL. Still relatively young. Put up solid numbers in swiss league. Could be solid depth guy with size and skill and might be cheap |
