Here is a small and perhaps realistic (heaven forbid) trade proposal.

VL, the 17th pick, our 2nd rounder (#48) to Dallas for the 14th pick and their 4th rounder. We agree to eat up to 25% of VL's contract/cap hit.

- BiggE

I would do that. I would want their 2015 4th rounder though.

Yes, but I'd prefer to keep the 2nd rounder. Very level draft in that region.

Germany is really good and had an extra day of rest. They were a little lucky about Portugal winning, but still a very strong showing overall.

I agree with skill for days, but if I am taking a left wing, I would prefer Kempe or Barbashev. They play more physically and sound defensively.
- aflyerpower8

I would be cool with them too, especially Barbashev. I also like Kapenen a lot. If he plays with the heart his father did he'll be a hell of a player.

Exactly my thinking. There is not a significant talent jump from 17 to 14 either.

They shouldn't retain any salary if at all possible. Just ask for the Stars/Predators/Blues second rounder.

All things being equal so would I, but if that is the cost to unload most of Vinnie's deal, so be it.

To me, the key wasn't moving up 3 spots, the key was unloading most of Vinnie's cap hit.

I'd rather hold his salary than trade an asset to be rid of him. Some team will take him of our hands.

Exactly. Worst that could happen is we keep a 20-goal scorer on the roster.

Yea true. I think they lucked out with the weather too otherwise this could have been ugly. Germany pretty much dominated this game. We're lucky it was only 1-0

Maybe, just seems like a lot of centers are out there either as UFA or waiting to be traded.

Vinnie
Bolland
Spezza
Kesler
Legwand
Richards
Stasny

Looks like a buyers market to me.

That's also a possibility, we can go 10% over the cap and move contracts before the season.

It handcuffs the GM now no ? IF a possible deal can be made now before the draft , for picks or moving up in the draft, or a trade for Del Zotto for example, and we can't move Vinny after that's playing with fire. Or the return for him would be less if all other 29 teams know we are over the cap ceiling. Unless you sign a postdated trade contract pre-draft with Vinny and his new destination team I guess...

- Chris48

Hextall pretty much anounced to other GM's that he's looking to gain cap space. Most teams have to manuever around the cap, so it's not a big deal. But yes, it does limit what the Flyers can do until July 1 and the 10% kicks in.
