Don't take it personally. This is one guy's opinion, and it makes me nervous about picking this kid.

now you're well versed in technique? i'm confused.

the execution was poor, but not just because he was "late". he essentially used an un-square wrap-around technique with paddle down, no real vertical coverage and holes everywhere.

the vh is really best used in 4 situations. the kane goal is extremely borderline as fitting any of them - in fact only one. the 4th scenario is a low net drive below the circle with or without a cross-crease pass option. the puck leaves kane's stick exactly on the bottom edge of the left circle as he's driving from the wing in a forward motion, with his body still in the circle while shooting. not only that, he's on his natural wing with a sharp angle to the net, and he's on the west side of the dot. he also had no real option to pass to the slot because the other blackhawk was covered. kane wasn't "driving the net" from that release spot. if he continued toward the goal below the circle from the side, then it would have been ok to use, if executed properly. leighton neither executed properly, nor used the vh in the right situation.

This is why I played defense. Hey Saq, go hit that (frank)ing guy

I disagree that he used it in the wrong situation. From where Kane was, there wasn't a threat of being beaten over the shoulder from that angle. It was the right technique to use, just poor execution, in my opinion. V-H would've also been an acceptable technique in that situation.

I mean, it's not like I didn't expect this, ya know?

We're talking about the Flyers here. They always look for the big free agent. Plus, this one's a puck moving Dman.

If they make a pitch for him, it'll be interesting to see what route they take.

4 years, 6 mill per? Higher? Lower? Longer? Shorter?

Couple years, hopefully, no more than 2. No idea on money. Isles offered north of $5mm per.

Absolutely agree.
Lou just needs to freakin' retire already. He cost Lindros at least one Cup. Damn you, Sergei Brylin

Winger was pretty great too:

I thought we should take a look at Boyle when I suggested a while back we trade Coburn and B. Schenn for the 1st Overall pick (an idea which did not garner much support). But now, where does he fit with this team?

I don't think he does in my view. Unless there is another move made with it. I don't want the Flyers to sign another small finesse offensive defenseman. With Streit, MacDonald, and Timonen. Adding Boyle would mean subtracting someone. If it's Grossmann or Schenn, that would leave the Flyers undersized on defense.

Yes, I don't support that either.

You make a good point. I'm not advocating them to go after Boyle, but hey- we do need D help. Just kind of kicking tires with my post earlier.

Diving deeper though, if they're serious about trying to land Boyle, you have to figure Grossmann is gone for sure.

Coburn-Boyle
Mac-Streit
Schenn-Kimmo

???

Again, not saying Hexy should really go hard for him, but that D corps is...interestingly better. Still damn expensive though

If Hexy really wants a short term bridge, I have to figure they inquire about Willie Mitchell.

again- 1 point for every guy correctly guessed in the top 20 (regardless of order)

2 points for every guy correctly guessed in the exact spot (regardless of team)

this way its more an emphasis on the pick, rather than the team because we all know there will tons of trades

Yeah. Crims, if a team moves up and takes a player we predicted they would take, is that still correct?

Example: If I have Sixers taking Embiid with the 10th pick and they trade up to #7 to grab him, do I get the point?

(frank) that man you should get 3.

Listen, I'm not in this, but if someone decides to guess a trade, you should get at least 3 points for that pick.

EDIT: 1 for the correctly guessed player, 1 for the correctly guessed spot, and 3 for the correctly guessed team to trade up to that spot.

So 5 points.

It's better in some ways such as puck movement and mobility, but it's significantly worse in other ways, leaving the Flyers vulnerable to lots of cycle games and down low play. With Streit already on board, I would not be interested in Boyle personally.
