This is also a deep draft in that there's no steep drop-off. This year's 10th overall might not be as good as next year's 10th overall, but this year's 15-30 might be better than next year's 20-30.

According to a lot of people, including several GMs, they consider that there's a steep drop off after pick 10 in this years draft. That's why Florida is floating the first overall but refuses to move back past 8 or 9.

So I'm totally watching Red Sonja. All I can say is...well, it's not a bad soundtrack.

Sorry, I meant steep drop-off in the 15-30 range. Most drafts seems to have a few levels, this year only has 2.

Yep. Today is the start of the negotiations window for UFAS

Lots of complaints from GMs about how this is distracting them from the draft and how busy this process has made the week leading up.

It might clog the trade situation is what I fear.

I've heard differently but I cannot confirm or deny myself. Hextall seems less then impressed with this draft, so I figure why not save until next year?

Blah, well we have no cap space, so hopefully this means the other GM's will be so distracted that they let Ehlers drop to us on Friday.

It's a pipe dream but the only two players that interest me are Ekblad and Dal Colle. I'm going to the draft Friday but I can't imagine I'll have any reaction to the pick unless it's Fabbri at which point I'll curse the gods and leave.

Lol

its funny how both sid and lemieux ended up there under very similar circumstances.

Yes, it really is but in the end, no one really cares. Penguins won multiple stanley cups by tanking but if you ask the league or any Penguins fan they don't care and have no reason to admit it. You won't find the media crying foul over tainted stanley cups.

Also, I was told by MJL last year in no uncertain terms that no professional sports team has ever tanked and no coach/gm/team would ever be party to tanking. It was unthinkable. Even when i specifically brought up the Penguins and Lemieux he still denied it happened. I hope he can admit he's wrong when even the Coach of the Penguins says "I was coaching to lose". The way the Penguins did it is the blueprint and requires ZERO involvement by the players which is another point i was making last year but was shouted down.

Has there been a movement yet where the citizens of Philadelphia barricade all roads leading to the WFC on Friday and/or kidnapping 29 GMs?

Need a crack team to infiltrate each of their hotel suites while they sleep... and plant Ehlers hate into their minds via inception.

We need to combine that with having costumes for all the other GMs, so we can make their picks. And the Flordia Panthers select from the Tokyo Katanas, Taro Tsujimoto.

When the lights go down after the third pick you'll know my plan has commenced.

Edit: Hexy will make the 4th pick with a bloody nose.

So stupidity isn't confined by the July 1 date anymore... the window has apparently moved up. Really hope Hexy doesn't go wading into this poop.

That's it in a nutshell. NHL GM's are a bunch of idiots. Too bad they don't know what the fans know.

I think a large majority of them are. I don't think these guys are some highly evolved + higher IQ version of society.

Heard on Ek's podcast, that the huge prices of Spezza and Kesler could be driving up the market for Vinny. I take it with a grain of salt, but that makes sense to me.
