Carol is right, Kesler is a big domino. He's the best player that is "available" plus his cap hit is VERY cap-friendly. I think Benning and Linden are wise to hold out and get others to up their offer. They aren't gonna Gillis this one.

Chicago knows that Kesler has asked for a trade so they low-ball, Canucks know that Kane will walk without Kesler so we high-ball. Trade him to the Ducks then the Ducks can sign Kane.

We were all raving about Bennings uncanny scouting abilities, and looks like he wants to go balls to the wall after Sammy R , so he must feel he is a number 1

This is how I've been reading the situation. We've all heard the "where theres smoke theres fire" cliche... well there's enough smoke to create an ice age.

Benning sees an opportunity he doesnt think he'll have in the next drafts and he's reluctant to let that gap grow wider where we dont have a #1 C to grow into the void soon left by Henrik sliding down. Thats the point, Benning apparently see's a #1 C while most of the fans here are concerned about Reinharts ceiling and some even questioning if he'll make the NHL. I have no reason not to trust Benning(with his scouting exp) and his over seeing of what kind of mess our scouts may present to him. I do worry he may give up too much.... that is something I cant get a read on yet. Not much to ref since he's only been an Ast. in the NHL.
