...like Toews!
Why the f*ck would the Canucks agree to keep any salary? - Marwood
As Canucksleafer noted it does open up options, notably for teams like CHI that spend to the cap ceiling and would need to send salary the other way in any deal if they were to pick up a 5m cap hit.
I'd much rather have us eat some of Kesler's salary and get a better deal than not eat a dime and get back an overpriced player like Bickell included in the deal just to make the dollars work.
But that said, you'd prefer to find a partner willing to offer a good deal without any salary retention. I honestly don't know how many teams are on his list nor how many are presenting offers but from what I've heard to date, ANA continues to be the best option. |

Hawks thread really is funny. They're convinced Chicago is the only place Kesler will go to now. I say (frank) him, make him wait 2 years. |

Agree, what if chi was willing to offer up Saad if we ate salary. Not saying they will but if us eating salary was the difference, you do it. |

The reason to keep salary would just be so that the Hawks could keep Sharp I assume, which would drive up Kesler's value i would think. - golfingsince
Still don't understand holding back salary to help another team fill out their roster. I thought Gillis was fired? |

I hope Kesler gets traded to Philly to be with his best friend RJ. |

You have to admit I helped keep the dog days interesting . I have seen enough drafts to know very little movement seldom happens but I sparked conversation. Eat your heart out Esplen. - VANTEL
I was being serious. Why people talk about not trading within their division is ridiculous. If the trade makes you better, it's a good trade. |

No rules broken ,how can they block trade.
Canucks say we put him on waivers seeing we couldn't get a deal, done and feel he would be a cancer to the room.
Tanev and second for second and very high prospect centre and second overall - VANTEL
because the trade is lopsided and clearly a way to avoid a players contract restrictions. What if you did that, and then didn't waive Kesler... |

Again, it really depends on what's coming back the other way. This team isn't competing for at least 2 years anyway. If the cap relief produced some assets management couldn't say no to, it would have to seriously considered. If the Nucks were looking like a playoff bound team then I'm sure they wouldn't give it a second thought. It's all hypothetical at this point as it would depend on the offer from the other side. Chicago wouldn't offer up Saad for the cap relief but for sake of argument, lets say they do. You wouldn't eat salary for 2 years to acquire Saad? |

It's kinda weird, at first the conversations were okay. Typical homer stuff, but they've seemed to have convinced themselves that Kesler will either go there or holdout. Either that or they're doing a great job of trolling. |

Kesler is so self absorbed and probably too busy flexing in the mirror to even know that RJ has been traded to PHI |

I love how they keep saying their package is by far the best even if they don't include TT, who by the way I feel has no more upside than Nylander. |

Apparently the Canucks have reached out to Bolland
Can you say awkward? The whole thing with the Sedins and Kassian injuring him last year... |

The Bolland camp won't do anything with Vancouver until they resolve the Ryan Kesler situation.

Not at all. There is no hate there. Some competitor's have a mutual respect. Bolland would be a good fit. Just my opinion but Bolland minus the injuries is a great team guy and would fit role on a line with Burrow's and potentially revitalize his career. |
