“We have every reason to believe – and (head coach) Pete (DeBoer) and I have talked about this quite a bit – that our young defensemen are ready to be given that opportunity,” Lamoriello said.

talking about making space for the D, and not looking for the buy out, sounds as if he is looking at trade possibilities first

also note that last year lou said the same thing, but he used a buyout on hedberg

yea i was going to post the quotes but my modem crapped out.

in reference to the buyout, “That’s not saying it won’t happen, but it’s unlikely,” Lamoriello said. Lamoriello said the reason why it’s unlikely is simple. “We like our players,” Lamoriello said. “You’re not going to do a compliance buyout unless there’s a reason for it. There’s no players we don’t like. We’re trying to just get better every day. What happened last year (with using the buyout), circumstances created that. That’s why it’s unlikely, but circumstances change.” It should be noted that Lamoriello said something very similar last June about whether the team would use a compliance buyout, stating, “We have no intention at this point, but that doesn’t mean we won’t.”

anyone watch drunk Cuba at the NHL awards? I wavered between being disgusted and laughing. A bit disrespectful to the winners of these humanitarian awards.. but it was still a bit funny.

What ever happened to Jiri Sekac? A couple weeks ago, he seemingly had offers from half the teams in the league, now it's like that was a weird dream or something and never actually happened. I'm all for taking your time making important decisions, but shouldn't he have made up his mind by now?

I was right there with you. I couldn't decide if it made watching an awards show more entertaining, or if it was just sad. Either way, it wasn't enough for me to watch more than about 5-10 minutes of it.
