Oddly enough the guy who believes Giroux_is_god did not believe Giroux would walk away with any hardware tonight. Now I just believe God is dead and we're all alone!

Not even worth the extra button push. Not willing to risk carpal tunnel syndrome over it.

Jeeze, Crosby should have rehearsed his speech a bit more, instead of stuttering and rambling all over the place like he did, he should have come across more like a robot or something.

Hexy just thinks there is another tier of player in the top 10. He said he is comfortable moving down also if the right deal comes along.
- aflyerpower8

I think there are a couple players projected to land outside of the top 15 that will be in the top 10 players of the draft when all is said and done. Sanheim and McCann, specifically.

yeah its hard.

i was enamored with joe morrow, and look at him. scuttling from team to team, and having not broken in yet.

definitely hard to tell, especially at defense. i just thought that morin reminded me a lot of a cross between coburn and luke schenn. and if he reaches that, not a bust of a pick by any means. but i just thought the flyers needed a different type of defender with that pick.

but who knows. no one can definitively, without a doubt tell you the kid isnt going to be ultimately even better than coburn.

He'll definitely be meaner than Coburn!

I'm listening to Ron Hextall talk and I really respect his approach to the draft, his honesty of what he thinks this draft has to offer and the direction he wants to go in within the state of the team. It's really great stuff. I was especially impressed with how he views defenseman and goalies, while also being impressed of how willing he was to go into detail about possibly moving up or down, so much so that it wouldn't shock me if he simply traded our first round pick in 2014 for a team's first round pick in 2015, just so we have two picks for next year. I'm confident that he has a plan as far as growth, which is refreshing to hear in detail.

On the other hand, I still do no buy what he's selling as far as the Hartnell for Umburger trade goes. I don't like the deal. I don't think anybody misunderstood what Hextall was saying as far as wanting cap flexibility or player flexibility, he wanted cap relief. He really didn't get it with RJ Umburger.

I actually wish Scott said "No" when he was asked to waive his clause. We're pretty thin at Left Wing and we're gonna miss the scoring, especially from our top line. I'm going to miss Scott Hartnell falling at least once a game but I'm also within the belief that guys like Hartnell and Mike Richards who were traded before their time were the driving force behind all these most recent heated Pittsburgh Penguins rivalry games, so we'll see how this all plays out.

Now, I'm within the belief that Sean Couturier and Brayden Schenn will be expected to take a major step, whether they're ready or not. I'm perfectly fine with this. It interests me very much. I feel Mike Richards and Jeff Carter probably had more support in their third season with the Flyers but they were still playing big roles and still managed to grow as players, so I am excited to see what Couturier and Schenn could do in a much larger top 6, two way role. I'm actually within the belief that Brayden Schenn should be on the PK and top PP unit anyway.

I don't think there are any easy signings or trades out there for the Flyers. Nothing legit that fills the hole that Hartnell leaves behind. I always wanted to see James van Riemsdyk and Claude Giroux grow together as a pair. Of course that never worked out. It would be nice to have a first line winger who's a lights out, no questions surrounding guarantee to play with our already lights out star center but only time will tell if this changes. Of course one of Matt Read, Jake Voracek, Wayne Simmonds or Brayden Schenn could develop into this role as the circle of life continues. Older players slow down, young players get older and take over.

I would love to see what Schenn and Simmonds can do with Giroux if this is even possible. We've seen years of John LeClair, Mike Knuble and Scott Hartnell on the first line, so why not Simmonds? Plus I feel Brayden Schenn is much more the shooter possibly like a Simon Gagne, that Jake Voracek isn't. So while I have no confidence a difference maker will be brought in, I do have confidence in our youth taking the next step.

I apologize if this was too long for some but these are my thoughts and not yours.

If Vinny can be moved at the draft or before July 1 would anyone be interested in Iginla. Boston might not be able to sign due to cap and other deals they need to make. COuld be option on giroux wing for a season. I know bonus overeage but maybe something like 1 year 3 million.

Any thoughts?
