He has had a quite a few injuries, I don't know if it's proven itself to be a problem, though.

Missing 13 games in 6 seasons isn't too bad for most NHL players.

A nucleus of young, flashy offensive talent worked for them in the 80's, though. Granted, they had a good defense and a goalie who made just enough saves. Guess that's a bit different.

I wasn't going back that far. I was meaing more recently. That's why I think a team likee Florida might like to have Vinny. Can let him help bring on they young core they are trying to build and he gets his top line minutes and pp and things he likes.

Vinny to Florida

Flieshmann to Philly to play wing with Giroux or Schenn

I'm not sold on Flieschman. He had, what, 8 goals last year and like 13 the year before? I know he had a big season they year they made the playoffs, but that is 3 years ago.

Sbisa, probably not much.

JvR, forget about it.

If Holmgren becomes the Leaf GM, Flyers can trade L. Schenn for JVR.

Not bad at all, but I meant the injuries he's actually had, but played through.

I'd love to see Homer go to the Leafs and totally just dismantle them. Gardiner, Kessel, Bernier, JVR to the Flyers at 50% retained, along with their next 68 first- and second-rounders to the Flyers for Rosehill and a 5th.

So...because a player missed 8 games last season after missing a total of 5 games in the previous 5 seasons and is 32 years old, he has "injury issues?" Guess 95% of players over 30 in NHL history have "injury issues."
- jmatchett383

You're right.

However RJ Umburger only managed 18 points while seeing all 48 games the season piror. So either he's injury prone or on a major decline. Choose one. Either way to move doesn't install a lot of confidence in me.

Just out of curiosity, not to pile on you, but what kind of things would a guy like Laughton have to do to "make it impossible" not to send him back? What kind of things would you like to see him do to make it onto the roster, possible as the 4th line center?
- jmatchett383

Laughton also has spent three seasons in juniors, played in the world juniors and played some games in the NHL and AhL. I think he will show what needs to be shown to stick. And his skill set allows for him to play as a fourth line center as he is more a two way center. Guys like Ghostisbiere, Hagg, Morin are pretty much the guys i was talking about.

I don't think the general public is actually aware of what most players play through. Heck, Kimmo Timonen is an injury magnet.

So what does he do well? He's a below average passer and does not have an accurate shot. He is a glorified grinder

The money works and it is only for one year.

Also he is a natural wing so not moving a center to wing and could slot on 1st or 2nd line

I don't care about the money he makes or his natural position if his production is going to continue the way it's been the last 2 years. Heck, I'll play wing for one year for the league minimum, but it doesn't mean I should be on Giroux's wing.

JVR was traded for a young player. It's pretty much a common practice to sorround a young core of players with veterans to support the team. I don't know of any team that goes completely with youth, and abandons veterans completely.
- MJL

I don't have a problem with veteran players. I'm saying that the Flyers have been foolish and short-sighted signing them to long term contacts. And I don't think I'm out of line saying that the Flyers could have been more patient with JVR and Bob.

@Proteautype: Does Vegas give odds on Flyers players finishing their contracts/careers in Philly? If so, do they start at Hahaha:1 & only get more remote?

The odds have to be better than those on him writing anything remotely meaningful.

He had a better shooting % than Voracek, Hartnell, and Couturier. Of players who played in 40 or more games, he had the 5th best shooting % on the team despite being shifted all over the place and getting almost no PP time. That's not bad.

Indeed good sir. Which makes me think that Hexy is up to more moves. I bet he told Kimmo his plan, and he agreed to come back for one more year cheap. I honestly believe that Kimmo is the only one who truly knows what is going to happen.

But Mr. _man, don't you understand? He is hip and edgy and clever, and jives with the youth of today.

Oh wait, no, I lied. He's a douche bag.

An upcoming team like Columbus was willing to take on that negative contract.
