With the Clarkson/Clowe/Burrows/Laich deals so roundly mocked, you'd think a GM would actually be praised for pro-actively moving a guy like that who's locked into too much term when the opportunity presented itself.

Guess not.

I'd say the Columbus Blue Jackets pulled off a fantastic deal, and the Flyers did not.

What surprise me is that regardless of how "inept" the trades have been thought of... The Flyers rarely miss the playoffs. Making the playoffs, means that you get lower picks... So, the talent is coming from where?

Let's see what he's saying after Hartnell takes out Bob a few times... or puts them down on the PK 4+ minutes a game...

Someone brought up a good oint yesterday. With Harts gone, maybe they really are looking at Ott. Maybe VL gets dealt and they move Coots up to 2C and Ott 3rd line C.

I like Schenn on the top PP unit but I do not like him on Wing. Keep him center and allow him to get better. Right now this is how I see the Flyers Forwards lineup if we can't get rid of Vinny. Berube isn't magically going to be happy with Vinny this year, he will be back in the Doghouse.

Hartnell was one of my favorite Flyers, but... the time to part ways has come. I just wish that RJ were a little younger and a little cheaper.

I'll have to console myself with the facts that he plays better D, and has a shorter contract.

I don't see Hexy paying VL to be a 4rth line center all season. He will be either 2C or traded. Those are really the only logical options.

Ott does fill the Hartnell's agitator role. He can take faceoffs, play the pk, etc. I guess he can do a thing or two.

I just don't want to pay him.

I'd wait. I think Ott is a guy who's going to ask for the moon and no one will pay him. Wait a while and see if his asking price comes down. At 1-2 years at like $1.5M, I'd take a shot at him. But it would take a while for him to drop that low. If not, let someone else have him.

I agree. I don't want to pay him for the pain in the ass he was for someone else.
