Seems like the same strategy we have been using the past 20+ years. Patch some holes here and there and hope we can play 1 or 2 rounds in the playoffs.

Have we had a Price and PK and Chuckie like talent before?

All the youngsters are good size. The big 3 2015 version on D are big. DLR is what 6'1 and the next Lucic is 6'5. We will draft a 7 footer this week.

Our only forwards that has talent that can play top 6 are Andrighetto, Hudon, Lehkonen, Reway.Small guys. And a big maybe on McCarron. He was playing on the 4th line in the OHL. He is still a long shot. Which leaves us really with only DLR.

1. Montreal finished the regular season with 100 points
2. Montreal doesn't play in the west, so that issue is irrelevant.
3. They beat the top team in the conference to reach the conference finals.
4. They lost in 6 games in the ECF, after losing their goalie in game 1.
5. There are a bunch of younger guys on this team (Subban, Galchenyuk, Gallagher, Eller, Patch, and the younger DMen on the way, plus Price). You can't have all younger players - it doesn't work.

Are they a "contender"? Well, final four is pretty good and it taught them a lot about how to win. Let's see what MB does to keep them competitive, and go from there.

Hopefully they draft some size next 2-3 years. I doubt any of the top 4 ever make an impact.

We have 3 great players with still a lot of potential. But they can't do it by themselves. We need more top talent. And we need guys that are not only big, but they play hard. For example Patch had 39 goals in the regular season, and only 5 in the playoffs.

Can't expect to win the cup if our top forwards under performs in the playoffs. The team will only go as far as our top players can carry them.

While I agree Pacioretty will need to be better.

I'm sure he'll learn alot from the past year and will keep improving.

Also: If Thomas Vanek played like Marian Gaborik did for the Kings we might be having a whole different conversation.

Wonder if Florida drafts Ekblad or trades down? Is he similar to Gudbradson?
