Galchenyuk's time at center has come. For this to happen they need to get rid of Desharnais. I love the guy and his heart but Eller, Plekanec and Galchenyuk (in no particular order) are your top 3 centers. I'm sure some team somewhere would pick up his salary, therefore giving MB more wiggle room to add depth on July 1st. (not to mention a little signing he needs to get done involving PK Subban) |

Yes, trade your highest scoring centre and plug in a guy that hasn't played the position in years making your top-3 Plekanec, poor mans Plekanec, and a guy who may not work in that position.
If you want Glachenyuk at centre have him take some turns taking face-offs from time to time on the 4th line and 2nd pp unit. Let him get his feet wet and if he does well keep giving more turns at the position. |

Also, please trade Bourque, Moen and the rights to Vanek.
Thanks

I like Desharnais, he tries hard and showed up for every games in the playoffs. But as the #1 center he finished with only 8 pts in 17 games in the playoffs for 9th place on the habs team. Even Vanek had more pts then him.
When you are the #1 center and you play big minutes and are on all the PP and you get outscored by players on the 3rd line ( bourque, Eller), then sometimes giving all you have is not good enough.
Montreal needs to start comparing themselves to the best teams in the league like Chicago, L.A., Anaheim, San Jose, Colorado, Boston, etc. Would Plec and Desharnais play top 6 on those teams?
Hopefully, Bergevin will make some changes to this team this summer. Trade some veteran players for some young players. 1993 is a freaking long time ago, and I want my team to at least be part of the contending teams in the league for the cup, and not just try to make the playoffs. |

Went to 6 th game of ECF without their starting goalie and beat Boston, they did more than make the playoffs.

The East won't stay weak for very long. Montreal wouldn't of made the playoffs if they played in the West imo.
I really hope you don't think we are a contender because we beat an injured Bruins team? Montreal played 1 hard series against Boston and they were out of juice. They had nothing left against the Rangers. Look at L.A., the played 3 extremely physical series and they still had energy left to beat the rangers in 5.
We need young blood, and we need to get bigger. |

I will trust Bergevin , Dudley etc make the right decisions. Can't see them blowing up the team. A few minor tweaks here and there. Get PK locked up LT. Then see how season goes and add at deadline again. |

Seems like the same strategy we have been using the past 20+ years. Patch some holes here and there and hope we can play 1 or 2 rounds in the playoffs. |

All the youngsters are good size. The big 3 2015 version on D are big. DLR is what 6'1 and the next Lucic is 6'5. We will draft a 7 footer this week. |

1. Montreal finished the regular season with 100 points
2. Montreal doesn't play in the west, so that issue is irrelevant.
3. They beat the top team in the conference to reach the conference finals.
4. They lost in 6 games in the ECF, after losing their goalie in game 1.
5. There are a bunch of younger guys on this team (Subban, Galchenyuk, Gallagher, Eller, Patch, and the younger DMen on the way, plus Price). You can't have all younger players - it doesn't work.
Are they a "contender"? Well, final four is pretty good and it taught them a lot about how to win. Let's see what MB does to keep them competitive, and go from there. |
