I'm looking at the players available at 26th place for the habs and to tell you the truth, I have never heard of any of these players. I will cross my fingers and hope that Timmins finds a great player that nobody saw coming (Subban). |

Pete saw him coming...now he no longer wants to shower with other men...

QP's 2014 wish list
It's 'Q heavy, I'm not afraid to admit it. My knowledge of the players beyond the first 3 rounds outside of the 'Q comes mostly from the odd CHL games and the major events (international tournaments/ Top prospects games). I only listed players that I've seen play. Most of my viewings have been from the stands, only a handful (or so) of the players from this list were evaluated from video.
1st round
Would be happy with the pick: David Pastrnak, Jakub Vrana, Connor Bleackley, Vladislav Kamenev, Nikolay Goldobin, Julius Honka.
Do not want: Roland Mckeown, Josh Ho-Sang, John Quenneville.
Unprobable to be there but would love the pick: Travis Sanheim, Nikita Scherbak, Sonny Milano, Ivan Barbashev.
Boring picks: Brendan Lemieux, Thatcher Demko, Jack Dougherty, Nick Schmaltz.
3rd round: Vaclav Karabacek, Daniel Audette, Alexis Vanier, Vladimir Tkachev, Ryan MacInnis, Andreas Englund, Ryan Collins.
4th round: Alexandre Goulet, Dominic Turgeon, Julien Pelletier, Olivier Leblanc, Edgars Kulda, Ryan Bliss.
5th round: Keegan Iverson, Alexis Pépin, Mads Eller, Julien Nantel, Francis Perron, Oskar Lindblom, Christian Dvorak.
6th round: Daniel Walcott, Brandon Fortunato, Edwin Minney, Anders Bjork, Alexei Sleptsov, Nikita Tryamkin.
7th round: Sergei Boikov, Keven Bouchard, Nikita Lyamkin, Carl Neill, Connor Garland, Duncan Macintyre, Cody Donaghey, Joey Ratelle, Julio Billia, Jan Mandat.
*not enough viewings but wouldn't mind*: Ryan Mantha, Cameron Darcy, Pavel Krakovsky.
Do not want under realistic circumstances: Clark Bishop, Jonathan Deschamps, Matthew Highmore, Spencer Smallman, Nikolas Brouillard, Jayce Hawryluk, Nikita Jevpalovs, Ben Thomas, Mason MacDonald. |

Is it just me or does trading a first line winger for a second line center kind of stupid?
Edit: this is in response to all the Sharp trade talk. |

Not pretending to be an expert on this years draft but he was one that I thought looked like an intriguing pick. |

Some GM's are just dumb (snow).
I still don't understand what Hextall was thinking when he traded hartnell. |

Former Habs scout Grant McCagg, who works for Bob McKenzie, The Hockey News and Mckeen's thinks the Habs will look at those players if they stay put
Travis Sanheim
Jack Dougherty
Nikita Scherbak
Dominik Masin
Sonny Milano
All 5 of these are pretty good players. Masin would be somewhat of a reach, but he's a late riser, after doing great at the U-18 as the captain of the Czech rep. who lost in final against the USA. Big bodied and mobile, he's a two-way D right now but I expect him to become a shutdown D à la Hjalmarsson/ Marc Methot. Very similar to Dillon Heatherington last year.
Dougherty is probably the most physical of all three D. He's a stay-at-home D but can support the offense with his shot from the point. He's not a risk taker though. Type of guy that would look very good beside Beaulieu in the future. He moves around alright but he will have to improve it to be effective in the Pros.
Sanheim is my favourite of the three rearguards. Like the other two, he's big. His skating stride is weird but he's pretty quick on skates. He's the most capable offensively of this D trifecta as he loves to pinch in at the blue line to keep the attack going. He's another late riser, as he was jaw-dropping good at the U-18 for Canada. He plays a very similar game to Muzzin, not the most flashy, but quite effective and always ready to support the rush if the occasion presents itself. |

Any players available that did good at the world jr. this past christmas? The games that I watched, all the best players were already drafted. I don't remember seeing a player that was really good and was un-drafted. |

More than likely. I'd be surprised if the Bruins let him slip to us, unless another top20 player falls. Same story with Sanheim, there's no way he makes it by Boston, and the (frank)ers pick right before us. |

Most of our prospects are at the blue line. I hope the habs draft forwards mostly this year. Cuz Hamilton is empty.

As long as we don't draft a small player or another Leblanc-Fisher. If he is small, he better be as skilled as Kane or Kessel. |
