You are doing the same with Bennett.

I'd rather have the guy that scores on the pp while Bennett is in the box for that spear and folloing games while Bennett is on a league timeout.

The vast majority of people who get paid to do this for a living (mock drafts that is) have it

Ekblad
Reinhart
Draisaitl
Bennett
DalColle

I happen to agree but I only used my eyes while watching them play to come up with my opinion. I said from the get go either Florida takes Bennett #1 and Ekblad falls to 4 or Ekblad goes #1 and the rest fall into place. I haven't changed my opinion or statements on that since the beginning

The same article from Florida that you posted said he's see's Reinhart in the 10-15 range for center's league wide but as a fantastic option as a number 2 on a championship team and is captain material. Has the best hockey sense he's ever seen in a player. If this is what you want in a player he see's no reason he can't go number 1.

I see no reason to not take him at #2.

I respect your opinion I just don't agree. We will know soon enough who the Sabres pick and then down the road see how this draft plays out.

Go listen to the GMTM interview from months back where he says about Bennett he does what the other guys (Reinhart et al) do but will spear you and is fierce competitor. He didn't say that about Reinhart so I'm thinking he won't spear you and is not a fierce competitor in his opinion. It seems like you are writing a fictional tale with a fictional character in it.

The only fictional character here is the one who can't skate/shoot/do anything that you keep talking about.

And Reinhart has been in the National spotlight a lot longer than Mr come Lately Bennett . As a lot of articles have stated Reinhart, has been over scrutinized . No one said Reinhart is Tavares . What was said was Tavares was accused of being a weak skater as well. Just stop it. Reinhart was also in the west so we hear a lot less about him than players playing in the OHL. Bennett has been groomed by Doug Gilmour . Great . Reinhart has a father who was a good NHL player and two brothers that were drafted before him . You think being the youngest of three boys does not give you grit ? I was the youngest of three boys and continually taking it from your older brothers gives you grit believe me.
- Maximum Signal

This tells it all right here. A guy has to break through sometime..... I was the youngest of three brothers, played hockey into college and know about grit and Reinhart doesn't have it, but Bennett does which is a bonus along with all the other skills he possess.

Director of NHL Central Scouting, Dan Marr:
“Exceptional player with the puck, his offensive hockey sense is off the charts with his vision and playmaking. A good skater whose top-end speed can still improve. A responsible player who quietly leads his team.”

- dadeadhead

Wait.....
He's a "good" skater?
that can't be right
Only that ONE scout from that one sportsnet article knows what he's talking about
The other 10+ articles and opinions are clearly wrong

It was an example by our GM about what Bennett will do to win it wasn't a literal description but a figurative I believe. We've had far too many pacificists on the Sabres over the years and drafting a center with speed, talent, character and grit is what most fans would ordinarily want if they weren't brain washed by the amateur Kris Baker's of the WNY world.

I would wan't a center with Elite hockey IQ and play making but that's just me.

Bennett 17 years old and 3rd smartest player in the OHL. Scouts say he makes players around him better, something Reinhart is not on his level.

As asked before how many of Reinhart's games did you attend to determine his lack of grit ? I think your definition of grit is screwed up . Give me the cerebral assassin that gets things done over the hothead that goes out and spears someone to get his point across everyday of the weak . You greatly over value this grit thing . The way others around here over value this glue factor.

No, like I said I played D1 hockey so I know what grit is and just because I quoted GMTM you are throwing it back in my face because Reinhart is not going to be known for his grit, I'm sorry.

I mentioned this earlier. He subconsciously wants Reinhart so he keeps taking all of his best features and giving them to Bennett to make him look better.

“The separation between Bennett and Reinhart goes two ways. One, Reinhart’s skating gets docked a mark…something that maybe improves with more strength and work. Two, Reinhart doesn’t make players around him better the way Bennett does… That won’t change at the next level.”

I am sorry your playing experience a side . I do not think you know what grit is . Real Grit is sucking it up and not doing something stupid , like spearing someone when you are upset. That takes real grit.

Yet earlier today some posted Reinhart had a hand in 84/85% of points scored while he was on the ice and Bennett was something like 82/83%

I also take anything said by someone who remains nameless with a grain of salt. If that is how you feel, be a man and say it.

Where are you getting the spear sh*t from? That was a figuative example from TM. Please don't dictate to me what grit is because I'm kicking your ass with rationale as to why the Sabres should draft someone with more of the total package.

Yeah I like the stat. The article is on WGR.com if you want to give it a read. It's called Four-k in the road and Jeremy White breaks down the big four and what makes them attractive picks.

Reinhart's IPP was 84 while Bennett's was 74. In the NHL, Taylor Hall led the way with 85% (likely because if the surrounding support or lack thereof) and Crosby had 83%. So that's some perspective for you on that stat. I don't believe stats are the end all be all but it's very interesting.

Excellent picture btw.

- DWE-74_29

Here it is.

Draisaitl had 91%
Reinhart 84%
Bennett 74%

Current NHL executive and scouts and going to remain nameless. I'm sure if he drooled over Reinhart nameless be damned, that would be good stuff.
