Ehrhoff to Detroit for a 1st rd pick?

Think Id rather just hang onto Ehrhoff.

He's got at least another 5 productive yrs in him, IMO. Those style of d-men tend to last into their late 30's (Timmonen, Zidlicky,Numminen).

- SuperCat

I think its more that Ehrhoff likely wants to move on
Since we can likely get a good return for him, dealing him is a good move
U don't want disgruntled vets around the kids

No brainer IMO. Havlat's only on the books for this coming season

Really? I'd like to believe we could do better than Ehrhoff for 20th and Havlat's cap hit.

It sounds to me like TM is trying to get up into the 10-15 range in the 1st round and flip it to EDM along with Myers and a top prospect (Larson?) for the 3rd overall.
Especially if FLA takes Ekblad

Me too... Hopefully...
I like him to the AVs as part of a package for u know who
Or Detroit has a decent number of just about NHLready guys & I like the suggestion of getting a couple of them

Wait, are you're suggesting we Trade Myers, a pick in the 10-15 range which we would have to give stuff up for, AND a top prospect for the 3rd pick? And on top of that, especially if the player who you need coming back for Myers is already taken?
Did I read this right?

Esp if Florida takes Ekblad?
With Ehrhoff likely being traded at some point, moving Myers also would leave us VERY thin on defense
Idk if that happens unless we get Ekblad
I'm almost positive it wouldn't hapen

I'm still sold on Ehrhoff to WSH for 13th overall, Johansson and cap dump

I can't wait until Myers is still a Sabre next year so we can hear "No one wanted him, that's why he wasn't traded "

Wash wants to win now
Doubt they trade Johansson
Maybe we could pry a prospect like Burakovsky from them though since he isn't quite NHL ready yet
Then when we get McDavid next year we can keep them paired together! Haha

Myers won't be traded bc Ekblad is going #1
Esp since it seems likely that ehrhoff wants out

Trading Johansson + for Ehrhoff is a win now trade, Burakovsky is close to untouchable for them.

U think they'll trade their best center AND a 1st for Ehrhoff?
I'd take the deal, I just can't imagine why they'd do it

Wouldn't Backstrom be there best?

I like Johansson's speed, but the dude can't finish to save his life. I don't think he's all that great. I think is rather try to pry away Wilson

Not asking for Backstrom. Johansson is one of those #7 forwards. Good speed and will get you 30-40 pts but not much beyond that.

Ideally you'd like to get a good prospect back but the problem is they don't really have that many.

The three well known ones they have are all keepers for them and the rest are really AHLers. Not much in the middle for us to pry away.

My bad...
Confused Backstrom & Johansson (its late, haha)
But still
I don't think they'd wanna give up a roster player
Not unless they were improving at that spot or it was a salary dump
Neither of which are the case in that proposed trade

And Burakovsky may well be untouchable, but that's who I'd go after
And if Johansson is a "#7" then why would we want him back anyways?

Their new gm would be run out of town.

That's terribly lopsided in Buffalo's favor.

Wilson is an interesting target
Not as flashy as Burakovsky, and currently buried on their 4th line
I could see Murray target him

I was thinking something more like Ehrhoff & a 3rd for Burakovsky and a salary dump

Or, I believe it was you that's been proposing a deal to Detroit for a couple of their young guys
That works for me too
I can't see them give up Nyquist though

The Leafs are looking for some action, wonder if they'd like a guy like Cody Hodgson or Ehrhoff?

Buff can eat salary for them too.

Hardly. Lopsided is the Wings giving up two of their best prospects for Ehrhoff

Ehrhoff Gives them stability on the back end, Johansson is a 3rd line player on a good team.

And the cap dump is a cap dump

You missed the add picks as needed part.

Washington also doesn't have a cap dump. They all have NMC/modified NTC.

Washington says no thank to #13(more than likey Tuch) Johansson plus IMO.

You like Tuch a lot, but the reality is his projection holds at 2nd line winger like most 13th overall picks in a weak draft. Not to mentions he's probably a ways away from being an NHL regular.

And Johansson is expendable for them. The value isn't that off here. If you believe Johansson + 13 is terrible value for Ehrhoff then the picks added part of your detroit deal would have to be the isles 2015 1st next year to make it worth detroits while.

31 and 39 would do.

Washington has zero center depth for the 2nd line if they move Johansson.

Laich is an overpaid 3rd liner with a NTC and Ward is a 3rd liner.

Tuch benefitted from playing with Eichel and Milano.

I like Tuch but I can think of a few in the 10-15 range id rather have
