So what do we think about a Schenn-G-Simmonds line?

I feel meh about it.

I just don't know what to do with the top 6. I am a proponent of splitting Jake and G up but the absence of Hartsy now makes that pretty tough to navigate.

I think a Read-Couts-Jake line could be NASTY

I haven't said these exact words but I did propose this exact idea around 3:30 and 4pm today!!!! This keeping Schenn from LW seems even more unlikely now.

Yup, but he seemed to be the muscle on the line he played while with the USNDTP.......I don't believe he's the "sniper" they need in the system.

Ob what's your opinion of Sanheim? I really hope the Flyers take him or trade up in the 2nd round to get him. He'd be a very Hagg-like 2nd round pick if he slips that far.

I like both lines actually. This would really give Couturier some excellent wingers plus I think Schenn and Simmonds are really good Giroux too. You need to add to third and fourth lines though. Right now you have Raffl, Laughton, and Bellemare and not much else.

It's amazing. It really wasn't that long ago that we had both Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne in the prime of their careers. Both could find an opening in a small areas of the net. Even Danny Briere was great at finding one of those opening. For all the things Giroux, Voracek and Simmonds can do, I wouldn't say can do what those 3 could do as far as sniping.

He is not making it to round 2, I believe he'll go anywhere from 15 to 25......it's not a deep draft for D there are maybe 5 or 6 I'd consider taking then a bunch of the stay at home type.

If they believe he's the best on the board, I take him, if not I'd honestly like David Pastrnak, Ivan Barbashev, or Nikolay Goldobin

VL and the 17th pick to MTL for the 26th and a 4th rounder. Heck if they take the whole contract I'd flip the picks straight up. Its worth dropping down 9 spots to unload that contract

i hate this idea. they made their bed now (frank)ing lie in it and maybe it'll turn out to be worth the money they paid for it.

Schenn on top line. Couts to 2nd line center. Laughton & umberger on 3rd line.

Dude RJ hasn't played center since the last time he was a Flyer. Coots gets 20 mins a night with 20 goal wingers and secondary PP time. Just cause he's on the "3rd line" doesn't mean he's being played like a 3rd liner.
- JAKEw1234

You have missed my point completely. Couter is ready to blossom as an offensive force if given the opportunity. He is a tremendous third line center but in my opinion should be a top six player with his talent. Third line players are a dime a dozen and keeping Couter at 3C will not bring out his offensive capabilities.

The problem is they did the deal assuming the worst, that one of Schenn or Couts would be a bust. And they were wrong. Now they have all three yet Vinny cant play the wing at all.

I don't care if they made the bed, it's the wrong move for the future to keep him as the 2nd line C.

Ok so I don't really get the Hartnell for RJ trade. There has to be more coming. I guess the Flyers get a player that can play in more positions, has less time on his contract and gets less penalties. But if RJ was a healthy scratch for parts of last year what makes the Flyers think he will fit in on this team? I guess I have two real questions; 1. How did they get Hartnell to waive his NTC or NMC 2. Where does RJ fit in the lineup?

I have been hearing a Schenn for Phaneuf deal, Brayden that is. Phaneuf is a lot better than he is given credit for and would love to see him a flyer but not really too keen on Schenn going the other way.
