you know, if that is the case then I actually feel better (not good) about it. Holding people accountable is important and commonly builds a winning attitude in the long run.

As far as the 2 step forward/1 back talk I would suggest that this is still a poor trade if that was the desired outcome. Just take the 4th. I can not find a rationale explanation for why this is a good trade.

BTW: THN's comment is total BS! Hartnell was given more chance then anyone in the organization. He was a penalty machine and I will not be sad to see some of his antics go. Still didn't get value!

I don't feel good, because it's not a good value trade. There might be some mitigating circumstances, but end of the day it's a step back or at best a lateral move in an effort to take a step forward.

I hear that Flyers fans threw batteries at JD Drew during the 3 NFC Championship Games they lost.

Was that the game they booed Santa and tried to fight domi?

Glad to see everyone is reacting in the regular fashion
Death to Hextall!
But seriously, not a terrible trade. We may have lost some pure goal scoring, but I think we gained two-way ability, consistency, and lost a lot of stupid penalties. Hartnell should normally be good for 25+ goals, and Umberger should be good for 20+. Play him with Giroux and Voracek and I don't think we'll see a huge difference in their production levels.

The late great George Carlin for me.

What's the step forward? They'll have 4.6M in 3 years

Think that some of these guys who were basically getting away w/ murder under Homer are probably feeling more than a bit exposed right now... oh, hello Zac Rinaldo, Jay Rosehill.

If Hartnell really asked to leave the Flyers it makes it a lot more plausible

Exactly my problem with the deal.

I can be sold on a full salary dump. Or dumping Hartnell for guys that are in the minors that don't count against the cap.

Instead, we got a guy the Jackets were reportedly ready to jettison, via CBO.

It's not like we needed to take on Umberger to get us to the Cap floor or anything.

No, that was after we lit off flare guns at the Vet because they had a court room there.

If it's a case of holding a player accountable, how many times during the season did Berube make Hartnell a healthy scratch?

No, that was when they threw snowballs at Irvin and cheered when Santa Clause was paralyzed. Afterwards, they rioted because Maurice Richards wasn't allowed to play in the Finals.

At least Rinaldo is showing a desire to improve his defensive game.

That's what we won't know. The Flyers will not have the potential albatross of Hartnell hanging over them in 2 or 3 years. Maybe if Umberger has a bounce back he'll be moveable.

He was demoted, though still in the line up, through a good stretch. If any player has been held accountable, it's Hartnell.

You will see 0 tears over those two getting the boot from this guy. spilled milk.

I hope this was a message to all the other players because I need to believe that there was more value gained in this trade and that would be a value to the future of this organization.
