Trade Vinny for a 3rd or 4th rounder while retaining some salary.

Trade Grossmann for a pick and/or mid-level prospect.

Sign Raymond to add speed on the wings, slot him on the 3rd line with Couturier and Raffl.

Sign Greiss or Peters for cheap, give Mason 65 starts.

Re-sign BSchenn for a decent cap hit, decent length.

Sign Fayne, or go big and sign Niskanen and hope he isn't a 1-year wonder.

Unless Laughton sh!ts the bed in camp, give him a slot on the 4th line to start the season. Leave all the other kids in the AHL/Junior leagues for another year.

1) I think we can get more for Vinny

2) As much as I would like too, there is no point in dealing Grossman and hoping Fayne signs. Grossman needs to be replaced by a physical Dman

3) Yes but not on the 3rd line. Why waste his speed on average speed based line? Put him with Schenn and Simmonds or the top line. Top line is iffy

4) Sure, I think Griess could handle more starts especially near playoff time to give MAson some rest.

5)Yes

6) Yes

7) No! If you are going to be on the team next season you have to EARN your spot on the team. Every NHL player has to prove they belong on the roster.

I like this a lot. Only thing I don't agree with is signing Niskanen. He's turned into a very good player this year but I feel signing him will be too big a risk for what he's bound to make. Last thing the Flyers need is a another bad contract. Let some other team take that risk.

Hopefully not as many this year as theres no olympics to schedule around. If I recall correctly they did pretty well in back to backs last year though.

I think Read deserves a promotion to the top 6, preferably with Schenn and Simmonds to add some speed and 2-way play. Raymond on the 3rd line keeps that unit in decent shape offensively, and puts Raymond with defensively responsible players in Couturier and Raffl.

As for Laughton, he needs to get a shot at some point. Hence the, "unless he stinks" stipulation. He has a good camp and pre-season, I don't see why sending him down is needed.

I'd prefer a guy like Fayne over Niskanen, but this is our team we're talking about. Niskanen will be one of the top UFAs this summer, I could see Hextall making a run at him.

What we get back for Vinny is likely proportional to how much salary we retain... if we can even manage to find a taker at all... that he'd waive for.

It helps if you do as i have done and make lines with him on the roster...I just don't know who he'd waive for who is willing to take the term -- i think that's what's gonna eff us up in the end

Those four years are looming large, i have a feeling

I don't think the term is a big deal. It's more about how much salary the Flyers are willing to retain. After this upcoming Season, his deal is more then half paid for. The remaining 3 years of the deal is for only 10.5M. If the Flyers retain enough salary to knock down the 6M salary for this coming season, I don't see the term being a deterrent to trading him.

Yeah, that's the thing... the teams he would have a preference for can't afford to get killed by having $12-18M in future cap-space tied up in a declining late-30's player.

Hexy essentially has to thread the needle here... find a budget-basement team, that wants him, that he'd waive for, and get it done with all the other scoring C's clouding the market... not easy.

By the time he's in his late 30's, there won't be 12-18M in future cap space. He's 34 now, with 4 years left on the deal. And it also doesn't have to be a budget basement team. And all the other centers that are available, plus the ones that are rumored to be available, certainly is going to make it harder.

I don't believe so. There isn't much out there. You could trade for Spezza or Kesler but the price is extremely high, most teams don't want to pay that much for a guy with one or 2 years on their contracts. FA wise you have Legwand, Stastny, Jokinen, Roy, Richards and Grabovski.

If I was a NHL GM There is no way I am signing Legwand, Jokinen or Roy to be my 2nd line Center. I am sure teams will take a look at Richards, Grabovski will likely go back to the Caps and Stastny may resign in Colorado.

Lol, you said there isn't much out there, then proceeded to rattle off no fewer than 8 names... and you didn't include Bolland, Kadri, Thornton, Marleau, Staal, and all the other guys whom have been rumored to be available.
