Virtanen should be gone.........You might be looking at a Russian if that's the case. - ob18
Probably, but one can always hope.
That's what they need though.
I'm back after a lengthy absence . . . . finally had to get a cell phone. |

Oh. I thought the USA was +1 in goal differntial right now and Ghana was -1, so if Ghana won by 1 goal, and the USA lost by 1 goal they would each have a 0 goal differential.
Regardless, deciding what Country advances by drawing out of a hat is comical under any scenario. - PLindbergh31
There's 6 tiebreakers,
1. Greatest number of points obtained in all the group matches.
2. Goal difference in the group matches.
3. Greatest number of goals scored in the group matches
4. Goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned
5. Greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned
6. Drawing lots
So specifically, if the US loses 3-0 and Ghana wins 2-0, then it comes down to drawing lots. If the US loses 2-0 & Ghana wins 2-0, the US advances.

They could have a shot at Barbashev or Goldobin at 17. |

My head is spinning reading that. I guess with there being draws the rules have to be complicated.
Bettman could solve this in 2 mins, penalty kicks. |

NHL brass proves its worth again. Only 4 of those boring Flyers-Penguins match-ups (again) but 5 of those Flyers-Hurricanes blood feuds (again). |

I watched the last 20 (+5 or so) minutes. If you're up by a goal and a guy is racing past you for a header, grab that dude's ankle so hard that he feels like you're gonna rip it off. Take the card and deal with the consequences, but under no circumstances do you let him go uncontested. - jmatchett383
yea i was screaming to give him a body check or an elbow to the head cause i saw it coming from a mile away |

Have to admit that was a ridiculously good cross by Ronaldo from over 35 yards, just perfect. Bend it like Beckham, my butt, it was an incredible play by an elite player. The first Portugese goal was the real killer with a very bad clear.

I'm guessing sarcasm? I'm sure the flat-footed (relatively to him) defenders saw him running past them towards the ball. But I guess in soccer, it's more important to stay classy by faking crippling injuries every 2 minutes than to win "dirty" like that. |

Yeah. He's big, goes to the net and can score. Flyers like that.
The more I read, the more I sour a bit on Goldobin. Skill out the ass, but seen too many people questioning his play away from the puck.
I was looking more at 2nd rounder types, but started looking back over the higher level prospects and too many had issues with Goldobin. |

I was just watching a video on Goldobin, and his offensive skill is off the charts. He has a real chance to be a scoring top 6 winger. Sometimes I wonder if Russian prospects suffer from the same stereotypes of lazy defensive play. To his credit, he did come over to play the North American, but apparently Sarnia is a crappy team.
It will be interesting to see what Hexy values in drafting a prospect early in the draft. Size over skill? Puck protection over skating? Grit over creativity? I wouldn't mind the Flyers taking a gamble on a prospect with a little more creativity in his hands then the tough two-way forward who is more grit and guts. |

If he was Canadian, he'd be inconsistent. I wouldn't write him off, but I'd slide Milano ahead of him on my wish list, perhaps.
I still really, really like Ivan Barbashev. Skilled guy who works his ass off, at both ends of the ice. |

Those Western Canadian farm boys always get the benefit of the doubt.
What about Scherbak? Seems a little closer to Barbashev according to playing style, I find it funny that still being a teenager his age could hurt him being a tad older. . |

He's just outside my first group. I haven't seen as much of him as Barbashev. Guarantee OB18 has seen a ton of both |

I know DeAngelo's name has come up in the past. Obviously, he will slip, he looks like a right-handed version of Ghost. Some team is going to get value at the end of the first or early second with this prospect.

The issue with DeAngelo isn't talent. He's very undisciplined. Loses his cool easily and had issues where he got suspended for using a slur at a teammate. That's what will hurt him.
That said, I'm open to him. Just wary because of Flyers' history in dealing with guys like that-Downie, Maroon, Voce. |

He seems to be the type of player that is either very good or doesn't make it to the NHL at all which has me wary. |
