Under Nolan yes , Give him one more season under a coach that let's him play to his strengths. Hopefully Nolan hires a good defensive coach to help with his development.

I'm asking again bc u keep saying "give him a season under Nolan" but for him to be an all-star this year it would only be another half a season w Nolan

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me one player that became a star under Ted Nolan's guidance. Don't get me wrong. I'm not ready to trade Myers, but the notion that he will be transformed under Ted Nolan's nonexistent track record is baffling.

I think a full season under Nolan with a training camp under Nolan will take him to another level on a consistent basis . We have seen it a few times this season after Nolan took over. We need to start putting better talent around him as Tim Murray said too.

Nolan will let him play to his strengths rather than holding him back like Lindy and Ron . Myers will benefit from that. No opinion on Teddy's ability on turning players into all stars.

Lots of Western conf. teams to put on his list, too, though, if we believe the talk of him wanting to stay in East.

Letang is risky with his contract and health concerns, but he definitely doesn't have negative value. BUF wouldn't be doing them a favour by taking him off of their hands.

But I do agree that Myers looked pretty good the 2nd half last year, esp considering how bad the team was around him

I just need to see more from him before I have your level of optimism
He's been below average at best for the few previous seasons
He gives me a FULL season like last years 2nd half and I'll get on board
I can't see him being an all-star THIS year
Next year is more possible IMO
And for as good as he did look last year at times...
It was more his jumping up in the play offensively that I liked
He's still got A LOT of defensive work to do before he's a true top pair guy IMO
I need our top pair to be "shut down" type guys
It is nice to see he get his offensive game back on track though

I have friends in two NHL organizations ( not the Sabres ) and they both have really high opinions of him . They think he will be a gem with some more polishing. For some reason the big ones take longer i.e. Chara and Pronger . I can't get the one saying out of my head that has been said to me . You can't teach size , also they love his skating ability . When I asked about Ekblad . The one said to me yes he is playing with boys now . What happens when he starts playing with men . Neither sees him as a franchise defense man . But neither one of their organizations are drafting near the top of the draft so maybe it is just sour grapes since they do not have a shot at him . Ekblad is going to take his time to develop as well so I am not willing to get rid of Myer's to draft him as we are starting over again . And Maybe Ekblad disappoints . We know what we have with Myers at this point and we have seen flashes of what he could be

Good post. Ekblad will be good but not all world necessarily. It's quite possible he never turns out be as great a player as Myers likely will be.aside from all that, Meyers is at the perfect stage of his development for this rebuild and a cornerstone!to build upon.
