I don't love guys like Scott Boras, but I do believe in his theory of unrestricted free agency: If you've made it this far, you might as well see what's out there, for better or,worse.

Clarification: EDM has window in which it's permissible to negotiate with CBJ pending UFA Nikita Nikitin, but no trade has yet been made.

I think from what I hear that is a good bet. I would think that Ghostibihere and Alt will also fit into that category. But I think both are going to be returned.

Even though to fans it seems craay to trade for rights I think there is a psychological effect on a player who was traded - you know that team really wants you - and that's sexy. I'm sure it's better to play in a place that really wants you there and as long as an offer is comparable to what others are getting at your level, development, etc (this is what you pay your agent to help etablish) I think most players will be inclined to sign with someone who trades for their rights. For certain teams it is certainly harder to attract UFA's due to location, winning history, or culture so I can see both arguments as to why you would wait as a player as well.

Oilers would need to overpay to get him. It's a tough place to attract free agents unless the free agent is from the area.

It's such an underdog in the world of modern sports...you have constant attention from the media and fans, without the offsets of being on a coast or in a major metropolitan area.

Not sure even winning is enough, nowadays, for some markets.

I'm going with Hagg. He has what Hexy is looking for, size and speed. However, unless he just blows everyone else away, he will start the season in the AHL.

I think Alt depends on if someone is moved like Grossmann. I know people don't hear his name alot and think the Flyers are sour on him but I know somone in the orginzation and they think highly of him. I think he will be that guy who you don't hear because he isn't overly dynamic, just solid. Set and forget type.
