How so? He's permanently injured. Not sure his age or league rules depend on that.
- jmatchett383

As in Ek's catch phrase "Dominos"

The only reason this 35+ deal comes up is because he got injured? No injury makes this 35+ debate nonexitant because he would be playing for us. He was still playing at a high level so I think it is safe to assume he wouldn't have been contemplating retirement yet

I think you're going a little overboard. We lost to the Rangers in 7. And the Rangers were pretty damn good this year. Im failing to see why that warrants a rebuild...
- hereticpride

Im saying the Flyers are not even close to Stanley Cup material. Get real. Also the Rangers hit a lot of luck on their way to getting dismantled by the Kings. Playing (2) backup golatenders and barely winning. Yea.... Awesome team. If it were not for Mason, Rangers would have beat us in 5 games. They dominated us. Badly

So you must be on the Schenn brother wagon. Im not impressed with either one and Coburns time is up. The only way this team is getting a #1 D-man is thru the draft. Will we be better next year. Nope. Im thinking towards the future because this going for the cup with spare parts every season has proven to be a failing formula. Im willing to go thru a rebuild so I can watch them raise the cup before I die.

When is EDMs rebuild over? How about WPG and their conserivative hold onto prospects and not make any deals working? Philly is not perfect but a rebuild isn't needed.

Let's ignore mason missing the first 3 games.

This team is a playoff team, even with this D corps. And Coburn.

They need tweaks, not a blow up.

Get real.

Minor rebuild is what I said in earlier posts. The defense needs to be retooled and we need speed on the wing. Other than that we have some solid players and a goaltender.

So tweaks? As everyone else has stated.

Rebuilds aren't minor. That means moving out Vets and starting new

never said blowup. read before you respomd. They need retooling. They were domintaed by the Rangers. You cant rely on your goalie to steal every game. That isnt how you win championships. You seem to be just fine with making the playoffs and losing in the 1st rd.

Rangers were not dismantled by the Kings. That was a good series. Two games went to 2OT, one game OT.

Yes they played two backup goalies, but those goalies, in my opinion, played just as well if not better than the staring goalies.

If they dominated the Flyers, that series would have only gone 4 games. No one "dominates" in a seven game series.

No way do the Flyers need a rebuild.

Trading Coburn for a Dman that will take a few years to be playing big minutes and trading our best LW and not having much behind him in the depth charts is not a minor rebuild.

Did we watch the same series???? The one in which the Flyers played in their defending zone 75% of the series.

Almost as many #1 Dmen have come from the 2nd and 3rd rounds as they have from the 1st. The key is in their development. We don't need to trade massive assets to build a strong defensive prospect pool through the draft.

Well you have used three differant words. Rebuild, Retool, Tweak.

re·build
[ree-bild] Show IPA

verb (used with object), re·built or ( Archaic ) re·build·ed; re·build·ing.
1.
to repair, especially to dismantle and reassemble with new parts:

re-tool
to reorganize or rearrange, usually for the purpose of updating

Tweak
to make a minor adjustment to

So which one

First of all, Schenn isnt a LW. Coburn isnt all that great. This team will make the playoffs but that is it. How else are they supposed to get better other than dumping some cap and getting propects because signing free agents that are over the hill works just great, right??

And how do you know the prospects you get will be what you need them to be? Coburn is a proven NHL dman with size and can skate. He has warts but he is a solid player

I wasn't saying the Flyers played their best hockey. I'm just stating my opinion that they were no way "dominated" in that series. To me dominating a series would be winning it 4-0 convincingly.

We dont know. But I can tell you for a fact that Ekblad has more talent than Coburn ever has or ever will. That doesnt come with age, You either have it or you dont.

Ugh - too much hops for me. I'll stick with a nice, creamy, cool, dark Guiness I think.
